Head of Finance | Founder-Led B2B SaaS Security | Remote-First

Harmonic are delighted to be retained by a founder-led B2B Security SaaS business, in the search for Head of Finance to become their first senior internal finance hire. This is a rare opportunity for an ambitious, qualified finance professional to take full ownership of a finance function, lead a series of high-impact international projects from day one, and grow into a genuine FD level role as the business scales.

The Business

Our client is a cloud-based video surveillance software business serving the professional security market, combining a subscription SaaS platform with a proprietary hardware component that connects existing CCTV systems to the cloud. Founded over a decade ago, the business pivoted into professional security in 2018 and has since built a strong technology platform, a loyal customer base and a solid base of recurring revenue across the UK and North America.

The numbers tell the story: turnover of just over £4 million, revenue growing at around 30% year on year, and the business has recently moved into profitability. Privately funded by its founders, it is a lean, highly capable team of around 20 people spanning development, data, testing, sales and marketing, with a sales team already on the ground in North America. The business is AI-forward in everything it does, using AI heavily across both its development and commercial teams, and is now entering a period of significant international growth.

The Role

Reporting into the COO and working closely alongside the CEO / co-founder, this is the first senior internal finance appointment within the business. Day-to-day bookkeeping, reconciliations and management accounts are currently supported by an outsourced finance partner, which will remain in place initially, with the successful candidate taking ownership of the relationship and, crucially, taking finance off the COO's hands entirely.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

This is a genuine mix of technical and commercial finance. The immediate priorities are project-based, with several important finance projects needing a dedicated owner to determine the right approach, coordinate external specialists and drive them through to completion. You are not expected to hold all of the specialist tax, legal and technical knowledge personally, but you will need to own the outcome, manage advisers effectively and turn complex advice into clear, practical recommendations.

Our client wants to find someone they can keep and develop, with clear promotion opportunities and a real appetite for internal growth and progression. They are looking for a fresh pair of eyes, someone happy to build from scratch where needed.

Main Duties

  • Lead the establishment of a US entity (ideally within the first 12 months), working with the COO, the outsourced finance partner and specialist US advisers on structure, intercompany arrangements, transfer pricing, banking, accounting, tax and ongoing reporting
  • Own the review and implementation of US sales tax compliance, including registration, collection, reporting and filing
  • Take ownership of a share capital and distributable reserves project relating to historic accumulated losses, share premium and preference shares, working with external advisers to assess options and drive the agreed approach to implementation
  • Take full day-to-day ownership of the finance function, managing and holding to account the outsourced finance partner and wider external advisers
  • Own management accounts and financial reporting, providing clear insight to the founders and senior leadership
  • Rebuild and own cash flow forecasting, budgeting and reforecasting
  • Provide FP&A and genuine finance business partnering, bringing commercial input to decision-making and helping to improve EBITDA and margins
  • Develop KPIs, financial analysis, payment approvals and financial controls
  • Oversee expenses, accounts payable and receivables, year-end, tax and statutory requirements
  • Develop the systems, processes and controls needed to support a growing international business, embracing AI and automation wherever possible
