We are delighted to be partnering with IPSE in London who are looking for an experienced and proactive Head of Finance to take ownership of their finance function. This is a highly autonomous role, ideal for someone who is equally comfortable presenting financial insights to senior leaders and rolling up their sleeves to resolve operational challenges.

The position is part time, paying £70,000-£75,000 (full time equivalent) per annum, offering hybrid working.

About IPSE

IPSE (The Self-Employed Association) is the UK's leading membership organisation dedicated to supporting freelancers, contractors, consultants, and the self-employed.

They champion the interests of their members through policy, lobbying, expert advice, and a range of business support services. As the world of work continues to evolve, IPSE plays an increasingly important role in ensuring independent professionals have the support, representation, and resources they need to thrive.

Joining IPSE means becoming part of a small, committed team where everyone's contribution matters. You'll have the opportunity to influence strategic decisions, improve processes, and help shape the future of an organisation with a clear purpose.

  • Ensure accurate accounting records and oversee reconciliations within Xero.
  • Deliver timely and accurate management information to agreed deadlines.

  • Maintain strong financial governance and internal controls.
  • Manage the monthly payroll process through the outsourced payroll provider.
  • Manage workplace pension administration and statutory payroll obligations.
  • Manage supplier payments and maintain strong supplier relationships.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
