This is a key senior role, responsible for ensuring robust financial management, effective controls and accurate financial information to support good decision-making and the long-term sustainability of BCHA.

You will lead the finance function and work closely with the Executive Team, senior managers and colleagues across the organisation. You will provide clear financial advice and constructive challenge, while maintaining high standards of accuracy, governance and accountability.

We are looking for someone who can combine strategic thinking with a practical approach. You will have excellent attention to detail, take ownership of your work and be confident identifying issues, asking questions and challenging where necessary.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the finance function, ensuring an effective and professional service.
  • Provide accurate and timely management information, financial reporting and analysis to senior leaders and the Board.
  • Lead annual budgeting, forecasting and financial planning.
  • Monitor financial performance, cash flow, income and expenditure, identifying risks and opportunities early.
  • Maintain strong financial controls and ensure compliance with legislation, regulatory requirements, accounting standards and BCHA policies.
  • Support the preparation of statutory accounts and lead the year-end audit process.
  • Provide clear financial advice and constructive challenge to managers and senior colleagues.
  • Ensure financial information is accurate, complete and reliable, with a strong eye for detail.
  • Identify and manage financial risks and ensure appropriate action is taken.
  • Support business planning, investment decisions and BCHA's long-term financial strategy.
  • Review and improve financial processes and systems, with a focus on efficiency and value for money.
  • Lead, motivate and develop the finance team, encouraging accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Work across BCHA to ensure financial decisions support our purpose and the people and communities we serve.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
