About Polygon
Polygon Productions builds the most advanced stage ecosystems in the world. We design and produce multi-sensory immersive live events using 360° spatialised sound, lighting and sensory technology, working in partnership with world-class specialists including L-Acoustics and Visual System. We operate across London, Hong Kong and Bangkok.
We are a small, dynamic team. Every event is a project with its own budget, its own commercial deal and its own risk profile. We need someone who can own the numbers behind all of it — and who wants to get involved well beyond them.
On the title: we are advertising this as Finance Manager / Head of Finance because we want to hear from ambitious people at different stages. If you can demonstrably do the job, we will title and pay you accordingly.
The role
This is the most senior finance role in the business, working directly with the Founder. It has three pillars: run the accounting function, build and own the financial models that price and forecast our events, and manage the contracting that sits underneath them.
It is also deliberately broader than a finance job. In a team our size the person who owns the numbers ends up shaping the decisions — pricing, deal structure, supplier negotiations, which territories we push into, which kit we buy. If you want a role where finance is a back office, this is not it. If you want to help build a company and have the commercial instincts to do it, read on.
What you will do
Accounting & control
- Own the month-end close, management accounts and board reporting pack, delivered to a reliable timetable.
- Run day-to-day finance operations: accounts payable and receivable, payroll, expenses, banking and multi-currency reconciliations across GBP, HKD and THB.
- Manage cash: rolling cash-flow forecasting, working capital and the timing of event deposits, supplier payments and freelancer settlements.
- Own the year-end process and act as principal point of contact for external accountants and auditors.
- Handle VAT returns, statutory filings and compliance obligations across our operating jurisdictions, with adviser support.
- Design and enforce the financial controls, approval limits and processes a scaling business needs — including improving or replacing systems where they no longer fit.
Financial modelling & commercial analysis
- Build and maintain event-level P&L models: pricing, cost build-ups, ticketing scenarios, sponsorship and margin analysis.
- Own the company financial model — three-statement forecasting, scenario and sensitivity analysis, headcount and capex planning.
- Produce budgets and reforecasts, then track actuals against them and explain the variances to the people who can act on them.
- Model new events, new territories and equipment investment decisions; support pricing negotiations with hard numbers.
- Prepare financial materials for investors, lenders, grant bodies and commercial partners.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
Contracting & commercial
- Draft, review, negotiate and administer commercial contracts: venue agreements, technology and equipment supply, client and sponsor deals, artist and freelancer engagements, and NDAs.
- Maintain the contract register — key terms, obligations, renewal and notice dates — and make sure the business acts on them.
- Flag commercial and financial risk in deal terms before we sign, and instruct external legal counsel where specialist input is needed.
- Own procurement and supplier terms, including insurance, licensing and production-related agreements.
- Track contract performance against the financial model, so what we agreed and what we earn stay connected.
Beyond finance — the entrepreneurial half of the job
There is genuine scope here to get involved across the whole business. Depending on your strengths and appetite, that could include:
- Sitting in on commercial and partnership negotiations, not just modelling them afterwards.
- Helping shape strategy: which markets, which formats, which revenue lines are actually worth pursuing.
- Building the operational and reporting infrastructure a growing company needs, from scratch, your way.
- Fundraising and investor relations support — building the story as well as the numbers.
- Whatever needs doing on show week. We all get involved when an event is live.
About you
Essential
- Entrepreneurial. This is the requirement we will not compromise on. You spot opportunities and problems without being pointed at them, you are comfortable with ambiguity and incomplete information, and you would rather build a process than wait for one. You are drawn to a small dynamic team precisely because of the scope it gives you.
- A minimum of one year's professional experience in an accounting or finance role, with clear evidence of taking on responsibility beyond your job title.
- A degree in accounting, finance or economics, an MBA, or a professional qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA — qualified, part-qualified or studying).
- Strong technical accounting — you can produce a set of management accounts and stand behind them.
- Genuinely strong financial modelling in Excel or Google Sheets: three-statement models, scenario analysis, clean and auditable structure. This will be tested.
- Confidence reading and reasoning about commercial contracts, and the judgement to know when to escalate to a lawyer.
- Comfortable working with minimal supervision and shifting priorities. In a business this size, nobody will build your day for you.
- Clear communication — you can explain a financial position to people who do not work in finance and be understood, and hold your own in a negotiation.
