Head of Finance Change & Transformation

We are working with a leading financial services organisation looking to appoint a Head of Finance Change & Transformation to lead a broad programme of change across its Finance function.

This is a senior role requiring someone who combines strong knowledge of investment banking finance with a proven track record of delivering complex transformation projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving improvements across finance systems, processes, automation and data, working closely with senior stakeholders across Finance, Technology and the wider business.

Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will take ownership of the Finance change agenda, developing and delivering a programme of initiatives designed to improve operational efficiency, strengthen controls and enhance the quality of financial information.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading complex Finance transformation projects from initial business case through to implementation and delivery.
  • Developing a strategic roadmap for Finance change, incorporating automation, AI and emerging technologies.
  • Identifying opportunities to streamline processes and improve efficiency across Financial Control, Product Control, Treasury, Regulatory Reporting and FP&A.
  • Overseeing Finance systems implementations, upgrades and process automation initiatives.
  • Working closely with Technology, Risk and Operations to deliver cross-functional change programmes.
  • Establishing effective project governance, managing resources, budgets and tracking measurable benefits.
  • Engaging with senior Finance leadership and wider business stakeholders to secure support for transformation initiatives.
  • Leading and developing a Finance change team.

Your Background

Candidates must have a strong background in financial services, leading change and transformation projects specifically within Finance functions, gained through either a Big Four consultancy or an investment banking environment.

We are particularly interested in individuals who can demonstrate:

  • Significant experience delivering Finance transformation programmes within investment banking or capital markets.
  • A background in a Big Four consultancy, advising banking clients on Finance transformation, or an in-house Finance change leadership role within an investment bank.
  • A detailed understanding of investment banking Finance functions, including areas such as Financial Control, Product Control, Treasury and Regulatory Reporting.
  • Proven experience leading end-to-end Finance systems implementations, automation programmes and process improvement initiatives.
  • Strong knowledge of finance technology, data architecture and the application of AI and automation within Finance.
  • Experience managing multiple projects, budgets, external providers and senior stakeholders.
  • The ability to operate strategically whilst remaining hands-on with project delivery.
  • Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • A recognised accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) is required, alongside substantial experience within financial services.
