Are you a strategic finance leader with a passion for helping NHS organisations improve performance, efficiency and value for money?

NHS Shared Business Services is seeking an experienced and commercially minded Head of Finance Consulting to lead and grow our finance consulting capability.

This is an exciting opportunity to shape the future direction of our consulting services, working closely with NHS clients to deliver innovative solutions that enhance the effectiveness of corporate functions. You'll lead a talented team of consultants, build strong executive-level relationships, and play a key role in identifying and delivering opportunities that drive meaningful transformation across the healthcare sector.

This role is hybrid variable working, you will be required to travel up to 2 – 3 days a week on average to our offices and client sites across the UK, your contractual location can be at any of our offices based in - London, Manchester or Leeds.

What you'll be doing:

  • Lead and grow the Finance Consulting practice, setting the strategic direction and ensuring the delivery of high-quality services to NHS clients.
  • Develop new business opportunities through client engagement, networking, proposal development, and presentations to prospective customers.
  • Partner with NHS organisations to identify challenges, improve financial performance, and deliver sustainable finance transformation programmes.
  • Provide expert advice on finance best practice, transformation methodologies, regulatory requirements, and emerging industry trends.
  • Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.
  • Oversee the financial, commercial, and operational performance of the practice, ensuring projects are delivered successfully, on time, and within budget.

What you’ll bring:

  • Extensive experience delivering finance transformation and consulting services, ideally within the NHS, healthcare, or wider public sector.
  • A proven track record of leading complex consulting engagements, developing high-performing teams, and delivering measurable client outcomes.
  • Strong commercial awareness, with experience driving business development activities, building client relationships, and identifying growth opportunities.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex information and translate it into practical recommendations.
  • Outstanding communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and engage senior leaders across client organisations.
  • A strategic, adaptable, and collaborative leadership style, with a passion for continuous improvement, team development, and delivering lasting change.

Salary: Up to £110k depending on experience

Benefits: Up to 20% bonus, £6,600 car allowance, 25 days annual leave with the option to buy additional days, private medical, life assurance, pension, and generous flexible benefits fund.
