Head of Finance, Online, Marketing & Brands
This is an exciting opportunity to join M&S as Head of Finance, Online, Marketing & Brands on a 6-month fixed-term contract. Sitting at the heart of some of the business's most high-profile and fast-growing areas, you'll partner with senior leaders across Online, Marketing and Brands within Fashion, Home & Beauty (FH&B), providing commercial leadership that influences strategy, investment and performance. You'll play a key role in shaping decisions that drive profitable growth, support transformation and maximise value, while delivering the financial insight and challenge needed to help M&S continue evolving for customers and the future.
To stay close to customers, our support teams are in the office three days a week as we believe that skills are developed through collaboration, and that spending time together makes us more creative and connected.
What you'll do
Your key accountabilities will include:
- Lead the finance agenda for Online, Marketing and Brands within FH&B, acting as a senior commercial partner to the Online Director, Marketing LT, Brands LT and FH&B Finance Director.
- Shape and challenge strategic plans, investment choices and trade-offs, ensuring financial resources are aligned to the areas that will deliver the strongest growth, profit, customer and brand outcomes.
- Own the financial planning, forecasting and performance management cycle across Online, Marketing and Brands, providing clear visibility of sales, margin, cost, working capital, ROI and risk.
- Drive the transformation agenda across Online, Marketing and Brands, partnering with the business and technology teams to shape the roadmap, quantify benefits, track delivery and ensure investment choices translate into measurable sales, profit, efficiency and customer outcomes.
- Lead, coach and develop a high-performing finance team, creating clarity on priorities, building capability, empowering ownership and ensuring delivery against agreed objectives.

Who you are
Your skills and experience will include:
- Qualified accountant with significant post-qualified experience in commercial finance, FP&A and senior business partnering within a complex, fast-paced retail or consumer environment.
- Strong strategic and commercial judgement, with the ability to connect customer, trading, marketing, digital and financial drivers into clear recommendations for senior leaders.
- Proven ability to influence at Director and LT level, building trusted relationships while providing constructive challenge and holding stakeholders to account for financial delivery.
- Strong understanding of digital, online and marketing economics, including ROI, ROAS, iROAS, MMM, channel performance, cost-to-serve and profitability drivers.
- Experienced people leader who can set direction, coach talent, build capability, empower ownership and create a high-performing, collaborative finance culture.
