JOB DESCRIPTION - Head of Finance – Romania (Froilabo)

Location: Romania (Pitesti) – with oversight of Froilabo France

Reporting Lines

  • Reports to: Head of Finance Lab Products (Group)
  • Manages: Senior Accountant, Assistant Accountant (Romania)

ROLE PURPOSE

The Head of Finance – Romania will own and develop the finance function across Froilabo Romania (manufacturing entity) and Froilabo France (commercial entity) reporting the function into the Head of Finance for Lab Products. This role combines financial control, business partnering, and operational finance, with a strong focus on improving financial performance, strengthening processes, and ensuring compliance across both entities. We are looking for a senior finance professional who can progressively take ownership of the full finance scope and contribute to the transformation of the business.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial Control & Reporting

  • Ensure timely and accurate monthly closing for Romania and France entities
  • Review accounting entries, reconciliations, and balance sheet integrity
  • Maintain strong financial controls and compliance with local and group standards
  • Support the preparation of monthly management reporting and variance analysis
  • Lead Froilabo treasury management including maintain strong relationships with our bank managers in Romania and France

Audit & Compliance

  • Lead or support the coordination of external audits in Romania and France
  • Act as a key contact for external auditors, in collaboration with Group Finance
  • Ensure audit readiness and quality of supporting documentation
  • Support statutory and tax compliance requirements

Manufacturing Cost Control

  • Develop or improve cost accounting practices (standard costing, variance analysis)
  • Analyse production costs (materials, labour, overheads) and identify improvement areas
  • Work closely with operations to improve margins and cost efficiency
  • Support pricing and profitability analysis

Reporting & Performance Management

  • Own the budgeting and forecasting process
  • Deliver financial analysis to support decision-making
  • Identify financial risks and opportunities and propose corrective actions
  • Monitor key performance indicators and business performance

Cash & Working Capital Management

  • Own cash flow monitoring and forecasting process for Froilabo
  • Improve working capital management (inventory, receivables, payables)
  • Ensure discipline in financial processes and cash control

Team Management

  • Supervise and develop the local finance team
  • Ensure quality, accuracy, and timeliness of deliverables
  • Allocate workload and define clear responsibilities
  • Promote a culture of accountability and continuous improvement

Process Improvement & Systems

  • Identify and implement improvements in finance processes and controls
  • Support ERP optimisation and reporting improvements
  • Contribute to standardisation across Romania and France entities

Business Partnering

  • Act as a finance partner to operations (Romania) and commercial teams (France)
  • Provide clear financial insights to support business decisions
  • Support strategic initiatives and performance improvement plans

PROFILE

Essential Requirements

  • 5–10 years of experience in finance (accounting, controlling, or similar)
  • Experience managing or supervising a small finance team
  • Experience working in an international or multi-entity environment is a plus
  • Fluent English (mandatory)

Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-have)

  • Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Exposure to audit processes and external auditors
  • Knowledge of cost accounting / standard costing
  • Familiarity with French GAAP
  • CECCAR qualified
  • Experience with ERP systems

Can Be Learned on the Job

  • French GAAP and statutory requirements
  • Advanced manufacturing cost analysis
  • Group reporting standards and internal tools

Languages

  • English: Fluent (mandatory)
  • French: Fluent (preferred)

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • Requirement to travel on an ad-hoc basis, typically several times per year, to our commercial headquarters located close to Paris, France
  • Flexibility to support business needs when required, occasionally align with UK working hours to improve collaborations with our UK Head of Finance for Lab Products to support key deadlines and deliverables
