Head of Finance – High-Growth Consumer Brand - London

The Opportunity

We’re working on a retained basis with a high-growth consumer brand that has ambitious plans for continued UK and international expansion.

They’re looking for a Financial Controller / Head of Finance to become the CFO’s number two, taking ownership of the day-to-day Finance function and helping build the infrastructure required for the next stage of growth.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys being close to the detail but can also operate commercially. The business is still evolving, so you’ll have genuine scope to improve processes, strengthen controls and create structure without slowing the business down.

The Role

  • Lead the day-to-day Finance function and manage, develop and support the Finance team.
  • Own the monthly and quarterly close, including P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, journals and reconciliations.
  • Ensure robust financial controls across AP, AR, banking, expenses, payroll and payments.
  • Own working capital, inventory, COGS and gross-margin reporting, identifying risks and discrepancies early.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis and commercial decision-making across the business.
  • Partner with senior stakeholders to improve financial accountability and challenge costs and assumptions.
  • Lead year-end audit preparation and oversee routine tax and compliance requirements.
  • Improve Finance systems, processes and reporting, including the effective use of Xero, Shopify and Retail 24/7.
  • Build scalable controls and processes that can support the company's continued growth.
  • Act as a key support to the CFO, ensuring routine Finance matters are resolved within the team so they can focus on strategy, funding and major commercial decisions.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
