Job Description: Head of Insurance Finance
An established and growing international insurance business is looking to appoint a Head of Insurance Finance to take overall responsibility for financial reporting, financial control, regulatory reporting, capital management, and finance transformation across its London insurance operations.
This is a genuinely senior finance leadership position, overseeing a large, multi-disciplinary finance team and operating across a complex structure incorporating both Lloyd's syndicates and company-market insurance entities.
The role will suit an experienced insurance finance leader who is comfortable operating at scale, can bring structure and consistency across multiple entities, and has the gravitas to lead a sizeable team through a period of significant change and transformation.
You will have broad ownership of the insurance finance function, including:
- Leading and developing a large insurance finance team, creating clear accountability, strong performance, and a culture of continuous improvement.
- Providing overall oversight of financial close, reporting, and financial control across Lloyd's syndicates, UK insurance companies, and international entities.
- Driving greater consistency and alignment across accounting policies, controls, reporting processes, and finance operations.
- Taking ownership of regulatory and statutory reporting, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and robust governance.
- Overseeing management information and providing meaningful financial insight to senior Finance and Executive stakeholders.
- Leading solvency, capital forecasting, and capital management, working closely with Actuarial, Risk, and Group Capital teams.
- Managing external audit relationships and supporting internal audit and regulatory reviews.
- Leading significant finance transformation and process improvement, including the redesign and improvement of the financial close process and future-state finance operating models.
- Playing a key leadership role in finance systems implementation and wider integration activity.
- Acting as a senior stakeholder across Finance, Risk, Actuarial, Operations, and Executive leadership.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
