The Role
We are recruiting a Senior Finance Leader on a fixed term contract to provide strategic and operational leadership for Mishcon's Finance Operations function across the UK, the Shared Service Centre (SSC) and regional offices.
You will drive process excellence and continuous improvement within the Finance function through standardisation, AI-enablement, automation and the adoption of best practice across all finance operations activities. Working closely with Operational Excellence, PMO, Technology and Finance leadership, Fee Earners and Legal Operations.
Duties And Responsibilities
Finance Operations Leadership
- Lead and manage all Finance Operations activities across the UK, SSC and regional offices.
- Develop and execute the Finance Operations strategy aligned to the firm's wider business objectives.
- Ensure effective governance, accountability and performance management across all operational teams.
- Create a high-performing, service-oriented culture focused on quality, efficiency and continuous improvement.
Continuous Improvement & Transformation
Partner with Operational Excellence and PMO teams to:
- Identify and deliver improvement initiatives.
- Lead the embedding of best practice, standardisation and operational controls across Finance Operations.
- Drive process simplification, automation and technology adoption.
- Support the implementation of finance systems, workflow tools, AI solutions and other transformation programmes.
- Ensure benefits are realised and embedded into day-to-day operations.

People Leadership
- Lead, coach and develop Finance Operations managers and team leaders in the UK and the SSC.
- Build capability, succession plans and career pathways across the function.
- Promote a culture of accountability, customer service and continuous learning.
- Drive colleague engagement and performance excellence.
Skills/Experience
- Significant leadership experience across multiple large financial operations and shared services environments.
- Deep knowledge of billing, cashiering, accounts payable and credit control functions.
- Experience leading geographically dispersed teams and offshore delivery models.
- Proven track record of driving operational improvement and service transformation.
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
- Management of operational risk, controls and compliance requirements.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making capability.
- An understanding of SRA Accounts Rules and legal sector financial controls would be advantageous.
- Available at one month's notice or less.
