About the Role
Our client is a privately owned investment group with a diverse portfolio spanning investment management, property, and private investments. With interests across multiple businesses, they offer a stable, long-term environment and exposure to a broad range of activities within a multi-entity structure.
Reporting to the Head of Group Finance, this is a varied, hands-on role based within the group's holding company. You'll play a key part in financial reporting, statutory compliance, and group accounting, while supporting the wider finance function. It's an excellent first move out of practice for an ACA or ACCA, or equally suited to an experienced Finance Manager looking to broaden their exposure in a group environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing monthly management accounts across a portfolio of group companies
- Producing group consolidations and managing intercompany accounting
- Managing the year-end audit process, including audit schedules and liaising directly with external auditors
- Preparing VAT returns and ensuring statutory and regulatory compliance across the group
- Producing board packs, management information, and financial analysis to support decision-making
- Managing cash reporting and balance sheet reconciliations, and supporting month-end close
- Owning day-to-day finance operations: invoice processing, journals, bank reconciliations, and financial records (Sage)
- Supporting payroll and working closely with the wider finance team
- Identifying opportunities to improve financial processes and controls across the group
- Contributing to ad hoc finance projects as the business grows

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
