Role Overview
As the Head of Finance, you will be a key member of the Global Executive Leadership Team, responsible for shaping and executing financial strategies that empower our mission of global change through education. You will lead all aspects of financial management including planning, investment oversight, risk mitigation, and team leadership to ensure our organisation’s sustainability, growth, and operational excellence. In this highly impactful role, you will also have the unique opportunity to lead and collaborate with our highly qualified National Heads of Finance based in India, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and South Africa, leveraging their expertise to drive financial excellence and mission alignment across our global operations.
Key Responsibilities

Strategic Financial Leadership
- Develop and implement dynamic financial strategies that support Project Yananai’s mission, ensuring long-term sustainability and growth.
- Lead scenario planning and contingency strategies to ensure organisational resilience.

Investment & Cash Flow Management
- Oversee investment portfolios aligned with our mission, identifying opportunities for both social and financial returns.
- Optimise cash flow to maximise funding for impactful programs and maintain liquidity.

Financial Planning & Analysis
- Direct budgeting, forecasting, and financial modelling processes.
- Deliver transparent and insightful reporting that supports data-driven decision-making at the executive and board levels.

Risk Management & Compliance
- Design and implement robust risk mitigation strategies, proactively addressing market, credit, and operational risks.
- Ensure full compliance with global financial regulations and deliver precise, timely reports to all stakeholders.

- Drive the adoption of modern financial technologies and methodologies to enhance efficiency, adaptability, and future-readiness.

Stakeholder Engagement
- Serve as a key financial advisor to senior management, the Board of Trustees, and external partners.
- Articulate complex financial concepts in a clear, actionable manner to diverse audiences, including donors and program leaders.

Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner closely with other executive leaders to align financial strategies with organisational objectives, fostering cohesive and effective planning across the organisation.

Team Leadership & Development
- Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing finance team.
- Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous growth.

Market & Trend Analysis
- Monitor global market trends, economic shifts, and regulatory developments to inform proactive financial decision-making and maintain organisational strength.

- A visionary and strategic finance leader with a proven track record in financial management, investment oversight, and risk assessment, ideally with experience in international organisations and/or the non-profit sector.
