Head of Finance

Are you seeking an opportunity to play a key role leading and inspiring experienced Finance professionals to make a real difference to the success of our operation at the Port of Sheerness, at the same time as developing your own skills and experience? We are seeking an experienced Head of Finance to play a key role as part of the Leadership Team, embedding our business partnering model at an exciting time in our growth.

Your role

Reporting to the Finance Director, based at the Port of Sheerness but also supporting the Port of East Anglia, you will lead, develop and coach a team of Finance Managers, ensuring alignment with business goals and embedding a high performing and collaborative culture. You will work in partnership with the wider business to support delivery of our finance strategy and wider business plan, playing a key role in shaping and maintaining risk and governance frameworks.

You will be accountable for improving financial performance, including revenue, cost efficiency and margin improvement, focusing on continuous improvement, identifying efficiencies and enhancing reporting capability. You will act as a Deputy to the Finance Director when needed.

What you'll bring

You will have:

  • An Accountancy Qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with significant post-qualification experience in a multi-site operations environment.
  • Strong leadership experience, with a track record of developing and managing finance teams.
  • Proven ability to drive forecasting, reporting, and financial analysis to support commercial decisions.
  • Experience in capital planning and business case development.
  • The ability to influence, engage and build strong stakeholder relationships across the business.
  • Experience in cash flow management, credit control, and balance sheet governance.
  • Knowledge of audit processes and financial controls.
  • A strong commercial and strategic mindset.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
