Head of Finance
Exeter, Devon
Part-time: 20 hours per week
£70,000 per annum pro-rata
Our client, a well-established and forward-thinking organisation, is seeking an experienced Head of Finance to join their growing team on a part-time, permanent basis. This opportunity offers up to 20 hours per week, with the flexibility to work across 3–5 days to suit the successful candidate’s requirements.
This Head of Finance role offers a strategic yet hands-on opportunity for a qualified finance professional to lead the organisation’s financial function, providing clear commercial insight, strong financial governance, and trusted advice to senior stakeholders and the Board. The responsibilities
- Lead annual budgets, forecasting and longer-term financial planning
- Oversee cash flow, financial modelling and scenario planning
- Review management accounts, reconciliations and financial performance
- Deliver clear financial reporting and insight to the Board and senior leadership
- Maintain strong financial controls, compliance and governance processes
- Oversee VAT, statutory requirements, audit preparation and external advisers
- Mentor and support the Assistant Accountant, ensuring high standards across the function
- Provide financial insight across operational planning, commercial opportunities and key projects

The candidate
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
- Proven senior-level finance experience within a varied and commercially focused environment
- Strong background in budgeting, forecasting, modelling, cash flow and management accounts
- Confident presenting financial information to senior stakeholders and non-finance audiences
- Strategic, commercially aware and detail-focused, with strong Excel or finance systems capability
