Head of Finance | Tier 1-Backed B2B Enterprise Marketplace | Remote (UK Time Zone)
The Client
Harmonic is partnering with a Tier 1 VC-backed, AI-native B2B marketplace transforming a large, fragmented legacy sector. The platform replaces a slow, siloed status quo with a modern and compliant way to buy, and its distribution network already reaches a significant base of enterprise clients.
The founding team has rare domain credibility and a deep network in their sector, and the business is now preparing for a large Series B. It operates across the US and UK, with its operations, product and technical teams in London.
The Role
Reporting directly to the CEO, you will lead finance and be the CEO's closest commercial and financial partner through Series B. The foundations are in place: outsourced accounting in the US, spend management live across the UK and US, and an established close and reporting cadence.
Your job is to take the function forward and make finance a driver of commercial performance. Commercial influence sits at the heart of the role: shaping pricing, go-to-market and proposal quality, setting the metrics the business runs on, and challenging the CEO and sales team with confidence. You will also own the finance engine, overseeing outsourced providers, keeping controls tight and developing an AI-enabled function that runs lean and in real time. Leading Series B preparation is central to the first year.

Key Responsibilities
- Partner with the CEO and leadership team as a trusted commercial voice, challenging assumptions and shaping key decisions
- Drive pricing, go-to-market and deal structuring, working closely with the sales team to sharpen proposals and improve commercial outcomes
- Own the core financial model, GMV analytics, unit economics, forecasting and scenario planning
- Define the KPIs and dashboards that leadership and the board use to run the business
- Lead Series B preparation end to end: investor-grade reporting, data room and financial narrative
- Oversee outsourced accounting, payroll, tax and statutory providers, and own the monthly close, cash and controls
- Develop the AI-enabled finance stack, using automation and tooling to keep the function lean and real-time
Essential Experience
- Senior finance experience in a venture-backed, high-growth business, either leading finance or as a strong number two ready to step up
- Strong commercial instincts, with a track record of influencing pricing, go-to-market or sales decisions rather than only reporting on them
- The confidence to challenge founders and senior leaders directly and constructively
- Strong FP&A and financial modelling, and comfortable working across US and UK time zones
- Experience supporting a fundraising process, including investor reporting, data rooms and financial narrative
- Technology fluency: comfortable with automation, AI tools and designing systems

Desirable Experience
- Background in marketplace, platform or B2B enterprise businesses, particularly GMV-based or multi-sided payment models
- A relevant accountancy qualification (ACA / ACCA / CIMA / CPA) is beneficial, though not required
- Experience managing outsourced finance providers
Salary: £120,000 - £140,000 + competitive ESOP
Benefits: Company bonus, private health, pension, 33 days holiday including bank holidays
Location: Remote-first (UK time zone), monthly London meetups and bi-annual retreats
Start Date: Flexible, considering notice periods
