Head of Finance β International Charity
π° Β£70,000 FTE (Β£56,000 for 4 days)
π London | Hybrid β 2 days office, 2 days home
π 4 days per week
We're working with an international charity to find a Head of Finance who enjoys getting involved in everything from big-picture financial strategy to the detail of day-to-day finance. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced charity finance professional to take ownership of the finance function within a small, purpose-driven organisation doing important work internationally.
You'll work closely with senior leadership, support the Board of Trustees and play a key role in ensuring the organisation has the financial strength, systems and insight to deliver its work.
The role
It's a broad position with plenty of autonomy, combining financial leadership, management accounting, grant management and operational finance.
You'll be responsible for:
- Leading the finance function, including management accounts, statutory reporting, budgeting and forecasting.
- Managing international grants and funding agreements, ensuring compliance with funder requirements.
- Producing financial reports, forecasts and cash flow projections for senior management and the Board.
- Supporting programme teams with project budgets, financial planning and grant reporting.
- Overseeing year-end accounts, audits, financial controls and charity compliance.
- Working with senior leadership on financial strategy, sustainability and long-term planning.
- Managing and supporting a Senior Finance Officer.
- Improving financial systems and processes to make finance accessible and useful across the organisation.

Who we're looking for
We're looking for someone with substantial experience in charity finance who understands the complexities of international grant funding.
Ideally, you'll bring:
- At least 7 years' experience in charity or not-for-profit finance.
- Strong experience managing the full lifecycle of international grants, including reporting and funder compliance.
- A professional accounting qualification or equivalent experience.
- Confidence producing budgets, forecasts, management accounts and statutory financial statements.
- Experience working with international funders, including governments and charitable foundations.
- Strong Excel skills and experience with Sage 50.
- The ability to communicate financial information clearly to both finance and non-finance colleagues.
- A practical, flexible approach β someone equally happy discussing strategy with Trustees or getting stuck into the detail.
