I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

The Person
You will be someone who can balance commercial ambition with strong financial discipline.
You will be comfortable getting into the detail, when necessary, but your real value will come from being able to step back, understand the bigger picture and use finance to help shape business strategy.
You will be collaborative, pragmatic and able to communicate complex financial information in a way that makes sense to people outside of finance.
As a family-run business, trust, integrity and long-term thinking matter enormously to us. We're therefore looking for someone who can combine strong financial leadership with a genuine desire to understand our business, our people and where we want to go next.
Why Join Comfort Plus?
This is an opportunity to take on a genuinely influential finance leadership position at an exciting stage in our development.
With Xero now implemented, you will have the opportunity to build on these foundations and move the finance function forward – developing stronger financial insight, supporting strategic decisions and helping ensure that our continued growth is both profitable and sustainable.
