Head of Finance Opportunity
Currently we are seeking a professional to join us as Head of Finance in the Finance Team in UK. The Head of Finance is responsible for leading the financial management, regulatory financial reporting, treasury oversight, safeguarding reconciliation oversight, financial control, and strategic financial planning of the FCA-regulated Electronic Money Institution (EMI). The role ensures the firm maintains robust financial governance, complies with all applicable regulations and requirements, and supports the CFO in providing the Board with assurance over the firm's financial resilience and regulatory capital.
The Head of Finance plays a key role in maintaining the firm's financial soundness, supporting regulatory interactions, and ensuring effective financial risk management.
Requirements
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
- Significant post-qualification experience in financial services.
- Experience within an FCA-regulated EMI, Payment Institution (PI), or banking environment.
- Strong understanding of:
- Electronic Money Regulations 2011
- Payment Services Regulations 2017
- FCA Handbook
- Safeguarding requirements
- Prudential requirements for EMIs
- Experience producing Board-level financial reporting.
- Experience managing external audits.
- Strong treasury and liquidity management experience.
- Excellent knowledge of UK accounting standards (IFRS or UK GAAP).
- Experience implementing financial controls.
- Strategic financial leadership.
- Strong commercial acumen.
- Decision-making under pressure.
- Stakeholder management.

Responsibilities
Financial Management
- Develop annual budgets and financial forecasts.
- Monitor financial performance against budget.
- Manage cash flow forecasting and liquidity.
- Produce financial analysis to support strategic decision making.
- Ensure profitability analysis across products and business lines.
Regulatory Finance
- Ensure compliance with the FCA requirements applicable to Electronic Money Institutions, including:
- Own Funds calculations
- Capital adequacy monitoring
- Wind-down financial planning
- Regulatory reporting
- Support preparation of FCA regulatory returns

Safeguarding Oversight
- Oversee and be responsible for daily safeguarding reconciliations.
- Monitor segregation of safeguarded client funds.
- Review safeguarding calculations.
- Escalate safeguarding exceptions.
- Ensure safeguarding records are complete and auditable.
- Support safeguarding audits and regulatory reviews.
Financial Control
- Maintain an effective financial control framework, fostering a strong control culture across finance processes.
- Ensure accurate accounting records.
- Oversee month-end and year-end close.
Treasury Management
- Monitor liquidity.
- Manage banking relationships.
- Forecast funding requirements.
- Oversee payment of suppliers and operational expenses.
- Optimize working capital while ensuring regulatory obligations are met.
Statutory Reporting
- Prepare annual statutory accounts.
- Coordinate external audit.
- Manage relationships with external auditors.
- Ensure timely Companies House filings.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards.
