Job Title: Head Of Finance
Contract Length: 3 months
Location: London (Hybrid Working)
This is a Head of Finance leadership role responsible for overseeing strategic financial planning, budgeting, accounting, and procurement for a major business area within the company. The role partners with senior leadership to provide financial guidance, develop business cases, manage large budgets and capital programmes, and ensure strong financial governance. It also involves leading a finance team, supporting major commercial contracts, and driving financial performance, efficiency, and long-term business growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead strategic financial planning, budgeting, and accounting for a major company department.
- Develop and manage the company's revenue budget and capital programme.
- Provide financial advice to senior leaders, executives, and department heads.
- Oversee financial monitoring, forecasting, and performance reporting.
- Prepare and support annual accounts, ensuring compliance with statutory deadlines.
- Develop financial business cases, option appraisals, and value-for-money (VFM) models for major projects.
- Lead financial input into procurement, contract negotiations, and high-value tenders.
- Identify opportunities to maximize income and deliver financial savings.
- Manage, develop, and lead the finance team to deliver high performance.
- Build partnerships with internal departments, external organisations, and represent the company at strategic meetings and committees.

Essential Skills & Experience:

- Qualified Accountant (preferably CIPFA) with degree-level education or equivalent.
- Extensive experience in strategic financial management within a large, complex organisation.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, budgeting, and financial reporting.
- Experience developing business cases, financial models, and long-term financial strategies.
- Expertise in procurement, contract management, and commercial negotiations.
- Strong understanding of corporate finance, funding mechanisms, grants, VAT, and procurement regulations.
- Experience managing large budgets, financial forecasting, and capital programmes.
- Proven leadership and people management skills, including developing high-performing teams.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with experience advising senior executives and leadership teams.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills, with experience delivering service improvements and financial transformation initiatives.
