Our client is an established, highly profitable, international group headquartered in the West Midlands. Already a large business with multi-billion assets, they have a strong focus on continued growth, and the strategic aim is to double in size within the next decade.

The business is aiming to be best in class across all functions; for finance there is investment across all areas to achieve this, including systems, automation and the growing use of AI going forwards. This transition is incredibly significant.

This is an opportunity to join a highly experienced management team and your ability to drive change as part of the leadership team will be essential. This is a high-profile Head of FP&A appointment, with significant progression opportunity and in a phenomenally successful and entrepreneurial business.

Job Description

A Head of Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A), located at headquarters just outside Birmingham. This is a key role reporting directly to the Finance Director and will be a critical leadership appointment, to support a rapidly expanding business.

As an experienced and strategic Head of FP&A you will be responsible for leading the FP&A function. You will be providing critical financial insights and driving strategic decision-making to support the company’s growth and profitability.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of long-term financial plans, including budgeting, forecasting, and strategic financial modelling
  • Identify and assess key financial risks and opportunities, providing actionable recommendations
  • Oversee the preparation of detailed financial analyses, and financial reports to senior management, highlighting key business drivers
  • Evaluate potential investment opportunities and property acquisitions and support the capital allocation process, ensuring optimal use of financial resources
  • Analysing the performance of the existing portfolio and recommending strategies for value enhancement
  • Partner with various departments to support strategic initiatives and financial decision-making
  • Lead and mentor the FP&A team, promoting professional development and a high-performance culture
  • Encouraging an environment of continual improvement to support a rapidly expanding business to include improvement of FP&A processes, systems, and tools to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability

The Successful Applicant

For this new and high-profile Head of FP&A opportunity in the Midlands, you will be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) and must have significant experience in an FP&A leadership role, understanding what a best-in-class FP&A function looks like.

  • Must also possess excellent financial modelling, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Prior M&A experience is highly desirable
  • Excellent leadership and team management abilities
  • The role requires a strong relationship builder with personal credibility and high impact communication and presentation skills, who can influence at all levels and convey complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders
  • A proven track record of strategic thinking and driving financial performance
  • Confident in evaluating and adopting new digital tools, including AI solutions, to improve outcomes and efficiency
  • A continuous improvement mindset with a passion for excellence in pursuit of business growth and success
  • Must be prepared to be in the office 4-days/week
