About The Role

The Head of Financial Reporting is responsible for leading the reporting team, taking ownership of an accurate and efficient reporting process both monthly and at year-end. The role will work closely with senior leadership and finance teams across the business, providing critical insights and ensuring the smooth delivery of consolidated financial reports.

What You’ll Be Doing Day To Day

  • Responsibility for fulfilling all aspects of the Group’s annual accounting cycle including consolidated reporting and year-end financial statements for On the Beach Group plc and subsidiaries which includes areas such as consolidation, tax, FX and revaluation and intercompany.
  • Run the Group audit ensuring it runs efficiently and in line with the agreed timetable.
  • Oversee the management accounts team and support with the month end close process ensuring transactions are correctly posted within the balance sheet and P&L's in accordance with the correct accounting treatment and standards.
  • Ensure tax compliance including tax cash payments and tax forecasting, working with external advisors on tax returns and R&D claims.
  • Draft comprehensive technical accounting papers for complex transactions including acquisitions, disposals, restructuring, impairments etc.
  • Drafting and reviewing accounting policies of the group, including advising on specific IFRS technical accounting matters e.g. share-based payments, revenue recognition, acquisition accounting.
  • Ensure compliance with internal processes and controls and with external regulatory Requirements.
  • Responsible for VAT compliance including monthly submission of return and balance sheet reconciliation.
  • Provide technical accounting support to the senior management team and the wider business where required.
  • Accountable for payroll sign off, liaising with both the finance and people teams to ensure accurate processing of pay, statutory deductions and filings, and pensions.
  • As required, assist the Head of Financial Planning and Financial Operations teams with Group capital planning.
  • Working on continuous improvements and other finance projects as required such as system migrations and digitising the reconciliation process

You’ll Be a Great Addition to Our Team If You Have the Following Skills, Knowledge, and Experience

  • ACA or equivalent qualified accountant with a minimum of 5 years PQE and previous experience as Head of Reporting/Senior Manager in Group reporting team.
  • Clear understanding of IFRS accounting and reporting requirements and experience in advising on complex accounting judgements and estimates.
  • Deep experience in producing and reviewing IFRS financial statements and external reporting requirements.
  • Proven track record of delivering audits on time
  • Experience dealing with both Corporation Tax and VAT
  • Strong understanding of control and process design, testing, and reporting
  • Excellent stakeholder manager, comfortable being a leader in finance and liaising with numerous stakeholders across On the Beach and external providers including auditors and tax advisors
  • Excellent analytical, numerical and problem-solving skills – demonstrating an ability to quickly identify and react to emerging issues.
  • Experience in large private/listed organisations with tight reporting deadlines is preferred

We’ll run a 3 stage interview process, one stage of which will be an in-person interview at our fabulous Aeroworks office in Manchester city centre.

Ways of Working

Our full time hours are 37.5 per week, but we don't have rigid working hours so you can find the working pattern that's right for you. We have core working hours between 10am - 4pm, so we can collaborate and enjoy the social side of work.

We also have hybrid working so we all work from home and from our Aeroworks office in Manchester City Centre. As a team we are in the office 2 days per week (usually Tuesday & Wednesday).
