Head of Financial Services
Band 8c | NHS
Location: Surrey (3 days a week on site)
Rate: £43.71 via PAYE
Duration: 3 Months initially
We are supporting an NHS organisation seeking a Band 8c Head of Financial Services providing strategic and operational leadership across financial accounting, treasury management, capital accounting, statutory reporting, financial systems, and financial governance. This senior leadership role offers the opportunity to influence financial decision making at an organisational level while leading a skilled team responsible for delivering high-quality financial services.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of statutory accounts, annual reports, financial returns, and regulatory reporting requirements
- Ensure robust financial governance, internal controls, balance sheet management, and compliance with NHS and accounting standards
- Oversee treasury management, cash flow forecasting, working capital, and capital accounting processes
- Provide expert technical accounting advice to senior leaders, Executive Directors, and key stakeholders
- Lead the development and continuous improvement of financial systems, controls, and reporting processes
- Support the delivery of strategic financial objectives and major organisational change programmes
- Develop and motivate a high-performing finance team, promoting excellence and continuous improvement

Essential Requirements

- A CCAB or CIMA qualified accountant
- An experienced senior finance leader with a strong background in NHS financial services or a similarly complex public sector environment
- Knowledgeable in statutory reporting, technical accounting, treasury management, capital accounting, and financial governance
- Experienced in managing complex stakeholder relationships and presenting financial information to senior audiences
- A confident leader with a proven ability to drive service improvement and organisational change
