Role Description

The Head of Fleet Services will oversee the strategic and operational management of the company’s or clients’ vehicle fleets, ensuring safe, cost-effective, and compliant operations. This full-time role is based in Brighton on a hybrid working model, with regular on-site presence and some flexibility to work from home.

  • Managing fleet performance
  • Establishing service standards
  • Ensuring adherence to regulatory and safety requirements
  • Leading relationships with suppliers, maintenance providers, and internal stakeholders
  • Overseeing vehicle acquisition, replacement planning, and utilization
  • Managing budgets
  • Analyzing operational data
  • Implementing continuous improvement initiatives
  • Leading a team responsible for scheduling, maintenance planning, and incident management
  • Supporting broader logistics and supply chain objectives

Qualifications

  • Strong fleet management and logistics operations skills, including route planning, vehicle utilisation, and service-level adherence.
  • Expertise in regulatory compliance and safety standards relating to fleet operations, including vehicle inspections, licensing, and health and safety practices.
  • Proficiency in budgeting, cost control, and commercial analysis, with experience managing contracts and vendor relationships.
  • Leadership and people management capabilities, including team development, performance management, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Ability to use fleet management systems, telematics, and data analytics tools to drive operational efficiency and decision-making.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders, suppliers, and operational teams.
  • Experience within logistics, transport, 3PL, or supply chain environments; exposure to e-fulfilment or high-volume distribution is advantageous.
  • Relevant professional qualifications or certifications in transport management, logistics, or supply chain (e.g., CPC, logistics/supply chain degree) are beneficial.
