I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
A key priority will be creating a clear and effective F&B function, bringing together the capabilities required to develop the proposition, support operational excellence and ensure customers understand and engage with the offer.
This is therefore as much a transformation role as an operating role. You will need to be comfortable challenging the status quo, simplifying where necessary and creating an approach that can be delivered consistently at scale.
About You
You may currently be a Food & Beverage Director, Head of Food & Beverage, or senior Operations Director within a large, multi-site hospitality business.
You will have experience owning an F&B proposition across a significant estate and will bring genuine depth across development, menu strategy, operational execution and commercial performance.
You'll ideally bring:
- Senior F&B leadership experience within a large, multi-site hospitality or consumer-facing business
- A strong track record of delivering strategic and operational transformation
- Experience of simplifying and improving propositions while maintaining quality and customer appeal
- Deep understanding of menu development, kitchen operations, workflow, equipment and operational deliverability
- Strong commercial acumen and experience managing significant P&Ls
- Experience leading sizeable, diverse teams across F&B, development and operational functions
- The ability to work effectively across Operations, Procurement, Marketing, Finance and Property
- A genuine obsession with the customer experience and a passion for delivering simple, high-quality propositions consistently
- The confidence to operate in an environment of change, ambiguity and competing priorities
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the credibility to influence at the most senior levels

Most importantly, you understand that great F&B is only successful when the operation can deliver it brilliantly. You will be someone who can create clarity, build trust and give teams the tools, training and confidence to deliver a compelling proposition consistently, at significant scale.
