Head of Fund Accounting

Description
The Fund Accounting team consists of four team members within our London office. The successful candidate will head up the Fund Accounting team and work closely with other support functions. We are looking for someone who knows the role well and can add value straight away. An ideal candidate is one who has a deep understanding of all aspects of fund accounting, a great commercial awareness and is used to multi-tasking and working in a fast-paced and high volume environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Management of monthly NAV process
- Ensuring a robust control environment within the Fund Accounting team for the production of daily P&Ls, official estimates, and final monthly NAVS
- Management of the Fund Accounting team
- Chairing the Valuation Committee, The HOFA should ensure adherence to the valuation policy and ensure this key document remains up to date, comprehensive, and accurate
- Producing and reporting of management information both recurring and ad hoc (track record, attribution, scenarios) to stakeholders in the firm, including senior management, client services, and the sales team
- Management of the regulatory reporting process for the funds
- Managing the Audited Financial Statements process for the fund entities
- Management of the service relationships with various outsourced providers, including the external administrator(s) and auditor(s)
- Providing materials for the various governance levels of the firm, e.g.: Corporate Board, Fund Boards, and Executive Committee
- Managing the internal fund of funds rebalancing processes
- Managing the FX hedge processes for the funds
- Driving forward continuous change as part of the wider finance team thus enabling the firm to continue to innovate and become more scalable and efficient as it continues to grow and add more fund products to investors

People Management
- Holding informal and formal meetings with team members, which includes quarterly one-to-ones and annual appraisals
- Recruiting and inducting new colleagues
- Planning, organising, and reviewing the team’s aims, objectives, and priorities on a continual basis
- Lead and motivate through strong leadership to maximise departmental and individual potential and performance
- Setting clear standards, expectations, and parameters to encourage a unified team
- When necessary, effectively manage poor performance for the benefit of the individual, team, and Company
- General day-to-day line manager duties such as approving annual leave and managing absence

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Employment within an asset management environment
- A detailed knowledge of fund accounting, involving equalisation credits, contingent redemption, and series accounting is essential and will be discussed at length at interview
- Adept at discussing and considering hypothetical scenarios and generating ideas with respect to Fund Accounting
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact with all staff at all levels
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a range of competing priorities and projects to tight deadlines
- Appropriate IT skillset
- Demonstrable and robust people management experience
Educational & Professional Qualifications
- ACA qualified (or equivalent) coupled with a minimum of five years of post-qualification experience
- Educated to degree level or higher (or equivalent)
