Job title: Director, Head of Global Commercial Business Finance Operations

Reports to: Sr Director, Head of Global Commercial Sales Finance & Business Finance Operations

Location: Cork (IE), Lausanne (CH), Utrecht (NL), London (UK)

Role Overview:

The Head of Global Commercial Business Finance Operations is a strategic leadership role responsible for driving operational efficiency, process transformation, sales performance management and strategic initiatives within the company's Global Commercial Organization (GCO). This individual will serve as a key business partner to the Commercial Finance team in the regions and GCO leadership team, providing business insights, leading business operations functions, and ensuring the GCO operates effectively and achieves its revenue and profitability targets globally. This role requires a blend of strong financial acumen, operational expertise, strategic thinking and cross-functional leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sales Performance Management: Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to global sales effectiveness, productivity, pipeline conversion, and sales efficiency. Analyze performance, identify trends and variances, and provide actionable insights to GCO leadership.
  • Sales Compensation and Incentive Planning: Sitting in Commercial Incentives Committee, partner with Sales leadership and HR to design, implement, and analyze global sales compensation plans and incentive structures to drive desired sales behaviors and outcomes. Ensure alignment with financial targets and business strategy.
  • Pricing Strategy Implementation: Support the implementation and execution of the company's global pricing strategies and structure. Establish and enforce global pricing rules and floors for special pricing, global/regional deals, ensuring effectiveness and alignment with policy / internal controls.
  • Pricing Process Development and Management: Develop, document, and manage global pricing processes, including price list creation, discounting guidelines, approval workflows, and pricing communication to the sales team.
  • Pricing Tools and Systems: Oversee the implementation, maintenance, and optimization of pricing tools and systems to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and ease of use for the sales organization.
  • Channel Revenue Management: Oversee global Channel revenue and Gross to Net process and tool management. Lead day to day operation of spend entry, quarter end close and process/tool improvement. Manage the communication across the entire GCO for the spend guidance, process and ongoing enhancements.
  • SOX Control and Compliance Oversight: Serve as the Business Process Owner (BPO) for critical sales operations SOX controls. Ensure the integrity of the global SOX environment by maintaining and enforcing transactional approval matrices and financial thresholds within systems
  • Sales Operations Leadership: Oversee key global sales operations functions, including POS data management, sales reporting and analytics, territory management, and quota administration. Drive efficiency and effectiveness in sales execution.
  • Business Finance Process Transformation: Identify and lead initiatives to streamline and improve business finance processes across the global organization. Drive automation and best practices adoption to enhance SOX compliance and reduce complexity
  • Team Leadership and Development: Build, lead, and develop a high-performing team encompassing both sales operations professionals and transformation task forces within Finance across global regions.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with global Finance organizations (including accounting and FP&A), Legal, IT and other departments to ensure alignment and support the GCO's objectives.
  • Strategic Project Management: Lead and manage strategic projects and initiatives within the GCO or Business Finance (such as GtN optimization), ensuring they are aligned with business goals and delivered effectively.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor or Master degree in Finance, Accounting, Audit, Business Administration, or a related field; an MBA or relevant advanced degree is highly preferred.
  • Minimum of 20 years of progressive experience in both finance and sales operations, with significant experience in a leadership role within a global organization.
  • Deep understanding of sales processes, sales compensation models, CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce), and sales data management.
  • Proven track record of driving global process transformation, financial performance and operational improvements within a global sales organization.
  • Experience in audit, internal control including design, implement and enhancement will be a plus.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and influencing skills, with the ability to effectively interact with senior sales leadership.
  • Proven leadership and team management skills, with experience building and managing cross-functional teams across geographies.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in CRM, sales analytics tools, and financial operation systems.
