We are currently working in partnership with a prestigious arts and cultural organisation, who are recruiting for a Head of Governance on a permanent basis.

This is a full-time position based in London, with hybrid working available. They are able to offer a salary ranging from £65,000 - £75,000, ultimately being dependent upon experience.

The ideal candidate will have significant experience in corporate governance within a complex organisation, with a strong understanding of regulatory compliance, board governance, and committee management.

You will be an experienced governance professional who can build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders and provide strategic advice at Board and Executive level.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Leading the organisation's governance function and ensuring the highest standards of corporate governance and regulatory compliance
  • Acting as the principal governance adviser to the Board, Executive Team, and key Committees
  • Overseeing the planning and delivery of Board and Committee meetings, including agendas, papers, and minutes
  • Developing and continuously improving governance frameworks, policies, and procedures
  • Ensuring compliance with statutory, regulatory, and governance best practice requirements
  • Providing governance assurance and expert advice on governance, compliance, and decision-making frameworks
  • Supporting risk management, audit, and assurance activities, including governance risk oversight
  • Leading governance aspects of external reviews, inspections, and audits
  • Promoting a culture of transparency, accountability, and ethical practice across the organisation
  • Line managing and developing a Governance Officer while building governance capability across the wider organisation

Experience required:

  • Significant experience in a senior governance role within a complex organisation
  • Experience supporting Boards, Trustees, and Executive leadership teams
  • Experience of developing and implementing governance frameworks and policies
  • Experience of managing Board and Committee processes and governance reporting
  • Previous line management experience

Skills, knowledge, and expertise required:

  • Excellent knowledge of corporate governance principles and regulatory compliance
  • Strong understanding of risk management and governance assurance
  • Outstanding stakeholder management and influencing skills
  • Exceptional written communication with experience producing high-quality Board papers and reports
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • High levels of integrity, discretion, and professionalism
