Global Research Partnerships (GRP)
Global Research Partnerships (GRP) is an international research intelligence platform helping researchers and universities discover funding, identify collaborators, strengthen grant opportunities and build research partnerships across borders and disciplines.
GRP brings together live funding opportunities, funded-project intelligence, collaborator discovery and institutional benchmarking in one platform. Researchers can search funding opportunities from major public funders, identify relevant partners and receive support throughout the development of stronger, better-informed research proposals.
Universities and research offices partner with GRP to give their researchers access to advanced funding and collaboration tools, improve visibility of their emerging funding pipeline, benchmark institutional strengths and strengthen their competitiveness for research funding.
GRP also produces the Research Collaboration Index, measuring research collaboration across universities worldwide, alongside a global academic network and research showcase reaching more than 170,000 academics.
The team works remotely and internationally, combining expertise in research funding, data, partnerships, technology and research communications to help lower the barriers to world-class research.
Role Description
The Head of Grants and Funding is a full-time remote role responsible for leading GRP’s grants and research funding function and strengthening the funding intelligence and support available to researchers, research offices and institutional partners.
The role will oversee the identification, assessment and interpretation of research funding opportunities across national and international funders, helping ensure that opportunities presented through GRP are relevant, accurate and actionable.

Day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Analysing funding calls and eligibility requirements
- Monitoring emerging funding programmes and priorities
- Identifying funder-fit opportunities
- Supporting grant and proposal development
- Helping researchers and institutions understand the funding landscape relevant to their work

The Head of Grants and Funding will work closely with GRP’s research, data, product and partnership teams to:
- Strengthen funding coverage
- Improve opportunity categorisation and matching
- Help develop tools and guidance that support researchers from initial funding discovery through to proposal development
The role will also contribute expertise to GRP’s collaborator and consortium intelligence, helping identify the institutions, researchers and funded partnerships most relevant to particular calls and research areas.
In addition, the Head of Grants and Funding will analyse funding trends, funder priorities and grant outcomes to inform GRP’s funding intelligence, institutional benchmarking and future product development.
The successful candidate will act as a senior source of research-funding expertise within GRP and help ensure that the organisation continues to provide researchers and universities with reliable, evidence-based and practical funding intelligence.
Qualifications
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess funding calls, eligibility requirements, funder priorities and research-funding data and translate them into clear, actionable guidance.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience developing or reviewing grant proposals, funding applications, guidance, reports and other research-related communications.
- Strong knowledge of the research funding landscape, with experience working with major national or international research funders and funding programmes.
- Practical understanding of the research grant lifecycle, including opportunity identification, eligibility assessment, proposal development, budgets, submission requirements, compliance and post-award considerations.
- Proven experience in research funding, research development, grant management, research administration or a closely related role within a university, research institution, funding organisation or research-focused organisation.
- Experience interpreting funding trends, award information and other research data to support evidence-based decision-making.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment, manage multiple priorities and deadlines, and collaborate effectively across research, data, product and commercial teams.
- Familiarity with research funding databases, funding intelligence platforms and digital research tools would be an advantage.
- Experience supporting collaborative, interdisciplinary or international research proposals and consortium development would be highly advantageous.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Research Administration, Public Administration, International Development, Business, Social Sciences or a related discipline; an advanced degree or equivalent professional experience is an advantage.
- Demonstrated commitment to widening access to research opportunities and supporting inclusive, transparent and ethical research funding practices.
