Rederiet Odfjell is expanding and seeking a Head of Group Accounting to take overall responsibility for the financial accounting and reporting of the Group’s holding and investment companies.
This is an opportunity to join the organization at a time of change and growth and become part of a small and highly competent team at the intersection of industry, investments and active ownership.
The role
As Head of Group Accounting you will have overall responsibility for accounting, reporting and financial administration of the Group’s holding and investment companies located mainly in Norway, with affiliates and subsidiaries in Denmark and South America.
You will be responsible for ensuring high-quality financial reporting and transaction support and help drive the development of systems, processes and governance structures that support the Group’s continued growth and increasing transaction activity.
The role is based in Bergen and will report to the CEO.
Key responsibilities
- Overall responsibility for group accounting and financial reporting, with focus on the Group’s main holding- and investment entities
- Coordination of the Group’s accounting activities across jurisdictions and accounting standards. Consolidation of company- and Group accounts and periodic reporting and communication to the board of directors and shareholders
- Together with existing resources, Treasury and Cash management for the main administrative- and investment entities
- Management of audit processes and external financial- and tax advisors. Preparation and quality assurance of annual accounts, tax returns and statutory reporting
- Responsibility for accounting policies, internal control and financial reporting compliance
- Support to corporate restructurings, capital increases, M&A transactions and other corporate projects
- Together with existing resources, tax planning, tax compliance and corporate structuring initiatives
- Drive improvements in financial systems, reporting platforms and formats, automation and use of AI-enabled solutions
- Act as trusted advisor to management and family members

We are looking for
We believe the ideal candidate combines strong accounting and transactional expertise with a hands-on mindset and interest for process improvement.
Qualifications:
- Higher education within accounting, auditing, finance or economics
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience from audit, accounting or comparable environments
- Strong understanding of Norwegian accounting, tax and corporate regulations
- Experience with group accounting and consolidation across jurisdictions
- Advanced user of Microsoft Office applications
- Fluency in Norwegian and English
