Head of Group Reporting
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Head of Group Reporting to join a growing international organisation. Reporting directly to the CFO, the successful candidate will lead the financial reporting function, ensuring robust governance, accurate reporting, strong cash management, and effective business partnering across the group.
This role requires a commercially minded finance leader with a strong technical accounting background and experience operating within a project-based environment where project accounting, WIP management, revenue recognition and margin analysis are key drivers of business performance.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting
- Lead the Group's financial control and reporting activities.
- Oversee monthly, quarterly and annual close processes.
- Prepare and review consolidated management accounts and statutory financial statements.
- Ensure compliance with UK GAAP, IFRS and relevant financial regulations.
- Manage external audits and statutory reporting requirements.
- Maintain a strong internal control environment and governance framework.
- Ensure compliance with tax, VAT and regulatory obligations.
Commercial Performance
- Oversee project accounting processes across the business.
- Review and manage work in progress (WIP), accrued income and deferred revenue balances.
- Ensure accurate revenue recognition in accordance with accounting standards.
- Monitor project profitability, margin performance and cost allocation methodologies.
- Support operational teams with project budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis.
- Develop reporting that provides clear visibility of project and business performance.
- Partner with senior stakeholders to drive commercial decision-making.

Cash Flow & Working Capital
- Lead cash flow forecasting and working capital management.
- Optimise billing, collections and supplier payment processes.
- Improve cash conversion and revenue recovery across projects.
- Manage treasury activities and banking relationships.
- Oversee intercompany accounting and reconciliations.
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, mentor and develop the finance team.
- Build and maintain a high-performing finance function.
- Foster collaboration between finance and operational teams.
- Drive a culture of accountability, continuous improvement and commercial awareness.
Systems & Process Improvement
- Identify and implement process improvements across finance operations.
- Enhance financial controls, reporting processes and management information.
- Support ERP and finance system optimisation projects.
- Develop scalable finance processes to support future growth.

Strategic Business Partnering
- Act as a trusted advisor to the CFO and senior leadership team.
- Support budgeting, forecasting and long-term planning activities.
- Provide financial insight and analysis to support strategic decision making.
- Identify operational risks and opportunities and make recommendations for improvement.
- Support business transformation and growth initiatives where required.
Candidate Profile
Essential
- ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified.
- Significant experience in a Financial Controller or Group Financial Controller position.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge including UK GAAP and IFRS.
- Experience within a project-based environment.
- Strong understanding of:
- Project Accounting
- Work in Progress (WIP)
- Revenue Recognition
- Percentage of Completion Accounting
- Project Profitability Analysis
- Cash Flow Management
- Experience managing multi-entity and consolidated reporting.
- Proven leadership experience managing and developing finance teams.
- Strong stakeholder management and business partnering skills.
