Part-Time Head of Growth | Consumer Marketplace

UK Remote | 2–3 days per week initially | c.6 months part time with the opportunity to move full-time | £80k–£90k FTE, pro-rated + equity

(Mandate covers brand and performance)

I'm working with a small, mission-led consumer marketplace operating in the wellbeing space. They've spent the last phase building the product, technology, supply and brand foundations and are now preparing to launch a completely new consumer platform.

The proposition is highly curated and trust-led, aimed at a discerning, relatively high-net-worth audience. With an average transaction value of just under £4,000, this isn't fast, low-ticket e-commerce. It's a considered and often highly personal purchase, which creates a much more interesting marketing challenge: how do you combine brilliant performance marketing with the brand, creative and consumer understanding required to build trust and create demand? That's where you come in.

The opportunity

As their first dedicated growth hire, you'll take ownership of the demand side of the marketplace and build the growth engine from zero to one.

And importantly, this is not just a performance marketing role. The business sees performance/acquisition and brand as the two critical sides of this hire. They need someone who can think commercially about CAC, attribution, channel economics and where to put the next £1, while also having the creative and brand instincts to build awareness without simply buying it.

You'll have the freedom to determine the channel strategy rather than inherit somebody else's playbook. Paid acquisition, lifecycle, CRM, partnerships, affiliates, organic, SEO, creative activation and product-led experimentation could all form part of the mix. Your job is to work out what creates sustainable, high-intent demand, prove it and scale it.

You're not starting from nothing

There's already a strong foundation to build from. PR is well established, with deep travel and wellbeing expertise. Significant work has already gone into brand positioning and messaging. There are two SEO specialists already working across content SEO and GEO/AEO, an existing social audience, a newsletter/database, a bespoke CRM, and access to product, design and an outsourced development team.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

What doesn't exist yet is the growth machine connecting all of that together. There has deliberately been no paid acquisition spend to date. Rather than pouring money into an unfinished funnel, the team has focused on getting the product right first.

So you'll get the opportunity to establish the measurement and attribution foundations, launch the first acquisition experiments and determine where the business should invest. You'll have a six-figure marketing budget, but this is test-before-scale. Start intelligently, prove the economics and the investment grows behind what works.

You'll be hands-on

This is a small, genuinely early-stage business, and that's an important part of the opportunity. You won't arrive to find a five-person growth team waiting for instructions. Initially, you are the growth team.

You'll have agencies and specialists around you, but no direct reports are expected for approximately the first 6–12 months. They want someone who enjoys moving between strategy and execution: deciding what matters, deprioritising what doesn't, then rolling their sleeves up and making things happen.

Over time, the opportunity is to prove the model, move full-time and build the team and function underneath you.

Who could be right?

We're looking for a senior T-shaped B2C marketer who brings a combination of:

  • Performance + brand.
  • Data + creativity.
  • Strategy + execution.

You'll probably have a strong grounding in performance/acquisition and experience managing at least six-figure budgets, but you'll be much broader than a paid media specialist. You should be able to talk confidently about CAC, attribution, conversion, revenue and LTV, but I'd equally expect you to get excited talking about a clever brand activation you created, an experiment you launched yourself or a way you generated attention without simply increasing media spend.

You'll be comfortable with modern MarTech, analytics and AI, and you'll still enjoy getting into the tools yourself. Marketplace experience would be useful, but it isn't essential. Neither is travel or wellbeing experience. We're open to strong B2C marketers from consumer tech, marketplaces, travel/experiences and other high-consideration consumer categories.

Experience marketing a higher-ticket purchase is particularly interesting. This customer isn't deciding whether to spend £40 on an impulse purchase. The average transaction is just under £4,000, so understanding longer consideration cycles, trust and emotional purchase drivers matters.

The audience also skews relatively HNW, but this isn't conventional luxury marketing. They want somebody who can communicate with a discerning, affluent consumer with sophistication and empathy, without automatically turning everything into “posh”, status-led or generic luxury messaging.

Most importantly, you'll need to genuinely enjoy building.

If the idea of being the first marketer, having real ownership, working directly with the leadership team and creating the playbook rather than inheriting one sounds exciting, this could be a brilliant opportunity.

The practical bit

This is designed to begin as a fractional role for approximately six months, working 3 days per week, with the intention/opportunity to move into a full-time leadership role as the business develops. The exact conversion point is flexible rather than tied to an arbitrary date.

It's fully remote within the UK, with occasional opportunities to get together with the team. Salary is £80,000–£90,000 FULL-TIME EQUIVALENT and will be pro-rated for the initial 2–3 day commitment, plus equity.

For complete clarity: at 3 days per week, that's approximately £48,000–£54,000 annualised + equity

If you've built B2C growth before, can combine commercial performance with genuinely strong brand thinking, and fancy doing it again with far more ownership, I'd love to hear from you.
