MNRecruit is delighted to be partnered with Samudra Oceans to hire a Head of Hardware Product ๐ŸŒŠโš™๏ธ

๐Ÿ“ London | Full-time | 20% travel
๐Ÿ’ฐ ยฃ80,000 base + up to ยฃ10,000 performance bonus
๐Ÿ“ˆ 1% equity from day one, with a 3% equity promise at the next round

Samudra Oceans has already proved product-market fit. Now, the focus is on building the hardware that turns that product into genuine ocean infrastructure.

This is not a startup gamble. It is a much rarer opportunity: creative ownership of a hardware product with a market already waiting for it.

What will the Head of Hardware Product own?

The successful candidate will take ownership of the entire hardware journey:

  • Hardware architecture
  • Prototyping and product development
  • Design for manufacture
  • Production
  • Supplier and factory relationships
  • Building and eventually leading the hardware team

Iโ€™m in my final year doing Economics and I donโ€™t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer โ€” it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) donโ€™t need a masters. Letโ€™s look at the ones youโ€™d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet โ€” that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right โ€” and where to focus when applying.

The role will involve real international hardware development, including Shenzhen, factories, manufacturing partners and regular travel.

They will work alongside a Chief Science Officer with a global research reputation and a laboratory in Oxford, as well as an incoming CTO from MIT faculty, developing technology that doesn't exist yet.

And the work won't be confined to a lab.

The successful candidate will be involved in sea trials off some of the world's most remote locations, Mediterranean farming communities, COP and international customer delegations across Canada and Europe.

The honest bit...

This is a hands-on leadership role.

Initially, the Head of Hardware Product will be building the product themselves, while simultaneously building the team that will ultimately take it forward.

For someone who wants to own the hardware, make decisions, build something genuinely new and see it deployed in the real world, this is a seriously exciting opportunity.

Marine, maritime or nautical product/design experience is essential.

If this sounds like the kind of challenge you would want to own, MNRecruit would love to hear from you.
