Head of Health Data Research

London - hybrid
Up to £120,000 + bonus + equity

This is a unique opportunity to build and scale a new research partnerships function within a rapidly growing, technology-driven organisation. Sitting at the intersection of healthcare data, commercial strategy, operational research, and life sciences, you will play a pivotal role in transforming large-scale real-world data into meaningful research and commercial outcomes.

The Company

They are a fast-growing organisation that combines advanced technology, AI, and large-scale operational data to improve outcomes across a highly regulated sector. Through significant investment in data capabilities, they have built one of the largest real-world datasets in their field, creating new opportunities for research, innovation, and commercial collaboration.

As part of their continued growth, they are establishing a dedicated Research Partnerships function focused on developing partnerships across life sciences, healthcare, research, and public sector organisations. This role will be central to shaping that vision and driving long-term commercial impact.

The Role

As Director of Research Partnerships, you will lead the development of a new commercial research vertical, helping external partners unlock value from large-scale real-world datasets and operational insights.

You will:

  • Build and grow a network of strategic research and commercial partnerships
  • Develop relationships with pharmaceutical companies, healthcare organisations, research institutions, and other external stakeholders
  • Identify opportunities to leverage real-world data to support clinical trials, research programmes, and evidence generation initiatives
  • Translate complex datasets and analytical capabilities into compelling commercial propositions
  • Collaborate with partners to design, develop, and operationalise research programmes
  • Lead external engagement activities, including industry events, presentations, and stakeholder roadshows
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams across data, product, analytics, and operations
  • Manage and develop a small research partnerships team
  • Support both the commercial development and operational delivery of research initiatives
  • Contribute to the creation of a significant new revenue stream and growth area for the business

Your Skills & Experience

You will bring a combination of commercial, analytical, and partnership-building expertise.

Key requirements include:

  • Strong experience developing strategic partnerships within healthcare, life sciences, health data, research, or related sectors
  • Ability to understand, interrogate, and communicate complex data concepts to external stakeholders
  • Commercial acumen with experience identifying and developing new revenue opportunities
  • Knowledge of clinical research, clinical trials, real-world evidence, or health data ecosystems
  • Experience working with pharmaceutical organisations, healthcare providers, research institutions, or public sector bodies
  • Comfort operating in both strategic and execution-focused environments
  • Ability to manage stakeholders at executive and senior leadership level
  • Experience leading, mentoring, or developing high-performing teams
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to build new capabilities and functions from the ground up
  • Strong communication and relationship management skills
