Contract: 12-month FTC (strong potential to go permanent)
Hours: Monday–Friday, 35 hours/week
Location: Home-based, with occasional travel to head offices

We're recruiting on behalf of a well-established housing / property organisation for a Head of Health & Safety. This is to lead H&S strategy, compliance and culture across the business. This is a senior, strategic role reporting into the SLT/ Board

Key aspects of the role include……

  • Lead all areas of Health & Safety compliance, policy and strategy across the organisation
  • Act as lead investigator for accidents, incidents and dangerous occurrences, reporting under RIDDOR
  • Provide assurance reports to the SLT. Advise on legal and regulatory compliance, and evaluate the impact of legislative change
  • Support operational teams with technical H&S expertise, including COSHH and safe systems of work
  • Develop and deliver H&S training to build a positive safety culture
  • Develop the HSE team/ HSE offering
  • Liaise with the HSE and other regulators as required
  • Manage access audits

What We're Looking For

  • Substantial experience managing M&E and H&S compliance, ideally within an RSL or the housing sector
  • NEBOSH Diploma and Chartered Membership of IOSH (CMIOSH)
  • IFE fire training/Affiliate Membership of the Institute of Fire Engineers desirable
  • Proven experience influencing and building relationships at senior leadership/Board level
  • Excellent communication, report writing and presentation skills – able to liaise at SLT level
