About the Role

At Anglian Water, we're delivering one of the largest infrastructure investment programmes in our history. As we invest billions into improving resilience, supporting growth and protecting the environment across the East of England, we're looking for an exceptional Head of Health, Safety & Environment to help shape the future of Major Infrastructure Delivery.

This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for driving our 'Safer Every Day' culture across major infrastructure programmes, providing strategic HSE leadership and assurance throughout the design and delivery lifecycle. You'll work across a complex portfolio of projects, leading health, safety and environmental excellence whilst influencing delivery partners, senior leaders and stakeholders at every level.

Reporting to the Major Infrastructure Delivery Managing Director, with a functional reporting line into Anglian Water's Health, Safety and Wellbeing leadership team, you'll provide the vision, oversight and governance needed to ensure our most significant capital programmes are delivered safely, responsibly and sustainably.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Lead and embed the 'Safer Every Day' culture across Major Infrastructure Delivery programmes, driving excellence in health, safety and environmental performance.
  • Develop and implement the Health, Safety & Environment strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives and organisational values.
  • Provide strategic leadership, governance and assurance across major infrastructure projects from design through to delivery.
  • Oversee HSE performance across delivery partners and framework organisations, ensuring effective risk management and regulatory compliance.
  • Lead incident investigations and oversee corrective and preventative improvement actions.
  • Establish performance measures, assurance frameworks and governance processes that drive continuous improvement.
  • Influence senior stakeholders, regulators and industry partners, providing strategic advice and assurance on HSE matters.
  • Champion innovation, digital solutions and new approaches to health, safety and environmental management.
  • Lead and develop high-performing teams, supporting succession planning, capability building and professional development.
  • Promote wellbeing, inclusion and a positive safety culture across all programmes and teams.
  • Monitor emerging legislation, industry developments and regulatory requirements, ensuring compliance and best practice are maintained.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
