Team: Health & Safety and Environment
Location: Remote with regular travel. Approx. A few times a month
Work pattern: Monday-Friday, 35 hours per week
Salary: Up to £75,884.23 per year
Contract: Permanent

Responsibilities of our Head of Health & Safety and Environment:
- Lead the Health, Safety and Environment team
- To be Cats Protection’s H&S competent person
- Collaborate across the charity to align Health, Safety and Environment plans with our strategy
- Lead the development and implementation of value-adding initiatives and activity
- Own and set the strategic direction for environmental initiatives and plans
- Update and modernise our Health & Safety function and policies
- Maintain expert knowledge and understanding of current and future legislation
- Lead the investigation of significant incidents, including cause, learning and improvement
- Develop and oversee a comprehensive Health, Safety and Environmental training strategy
- Lead the team in the attaining relevant H&S and environment quality standards

About the Health & Safety and Environment team:
The team is a multi-tasking team that undertakes most Health and Safety tasks in-house, working closely with most other teams within Cats Protection. The team is made up of a head of department, senior officer, environment and sustainability lead, administrator and 4 regional officers who cover the whole of the UK. The team deal with the Cats Protection retail outlets, Cat Centres, accident investigations, DSE, branch volunteer enquiries and more.
What we’re looking for in our Head of Health & Safety and Environment:
- NEBOSH diploma or equivalent H&S qualification and chartered ISOH membership
- Significant Health & Safety management experience at a similar head of department level
- Experience leading and developing high-performing teams
- Experience in a complex, multi-site public sector, facilities or charity organisation
- Strong knowledge of all current and emerging Health & Safety legislation and guidance
- Experience of leading the modernisation of H&S services and activities
- Inspirational leader with the ability to build strong relationships
- Ability to plan, develop and implement key Health and Safety, and Environment policies
