Head of Health, Safety & Environmental

Salary: Up to £95,000 + Benefits (Healthcare, Car Allowance, Bonus, Pension)

Location: Central with regular travel to sites

Are you ready to lead a strategic, company-wide HSE programme that truly makes a difference? Do you have the expertise to shape a proactive safety culture across multiple operational sites?

This senior role reports directly to the Manufacturing Director and is responsible for developing and implementing the HSE strategy, ensuring compliance, and fostering a safety-first environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading the development, deployment, and continuous improvement of the HSE strategy across all sites.
  • Providing expert guidance on legislation, risk management, and best practices to senior leadership.
  • Overseeing HSE systems, audits, and compliance activities, including ISO standards.
  • Building a high-performing HSE team through coaching, development, and capability enhancement.
  • Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to embed safety and environmental responsibilities into operations.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Proven experience in FMCG or fast-paced operational environments, with a strong understanding of UK HSE legislation.
  • Demonstrated leadership in shaping safety cultures and delivering measurable improvements.
  • NEBOSH Diploma and environmental qualifications are preferred; Chartered IOSH membership is desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and motivate at all levels.

What This Role Offers You

  • This is a senior leadership opportunity offering a competitive package, alongside the opportunity to shape HSE strategy across a multi-site operational business.

Salary: Up to £95,000

Healthcare: Family healthcare cover

Car Allowance: £9,000 per annum, or equivalent cash allowance

Bonus: Target bonus of 20% of salary

Pension: Employer Pension Plan with employer contribution matching up to 7% of salary, with a minimum employer contribution of 4.5%

Holiday: 25 days annual leave, increasing with length of service after 5 years

Health & Wellbeing: Comprehensive health assessment available every two years
