Head of Housing Needs - Interim Contract
Lincoln Cornhill is proud to be working with a small District Council in the Southeast who are seeking to appoint a Head of Housing Needs on an 8 – 12 month interim contract. You will be required to work on site 1-2 days a week.
About the Role
This role combines the substantive responsibilities of the historic Housing Needs Manager position with the temporary Head of Service responsibilities required to cover the secondment of the Head of Housing and Strategic Assets to a third party. The purpose is to provide a single senior housing professional capable of maintaining statutory compliance, service performance and strategic leadership during the temporary absence.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and direction to Housing Services, ensuring continuity of service delivery throughout the temporary management period
- Act as the Council's senior housing advisor on housing needs, homelessness, allocations, housing options and associated housing policy matters
- Lead the development, implementation and review of housing-related strategies, policies and service plans
- Contribute to corporate leadership initiatives, service transformation programmes and Local Government Reorganisation planning where required
- Represent the Council at regional partnerships, strategic housing forums, Sussex housing groups and multi-agency meetings

Experience and Skills Required
- Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) Level 4 qualification or equivalent professional housing qualification
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Management qualification or significant management experience
- Educated to degree level or equivalent professional experience
