Are you an experienced HR leader who is passionate about people and providing excellent service?
We have an exciting opportunity to join our HR leadership team, leading a diverse and important portfolio encompassing HR Services, (payroll, temporary staffing), HR systems and Workforce Information (including right to work).
We are looking for a rounded HR services leader. Significant experience of leading and managing payroll services will be important. You will understand payroll governance, outsourced payroll provision, complex pay issues and service improvement, and recognise the very real impact that getting pay right has on our colleagues.
You will also provide leadership across HR Systems and Workforce Information, ensuring our systems are effective and support the needs of the organisation, while ensuring accurate and trusted workforce information supports reporting, workforce planning and decision-making. You will also oversee key workforce compliance information, including right-to-work status.
This is also an exciting time for workforce technology. As the NHS prepares for NHS PeoplePortal, the future NHS workforce solution. You will have a key leadership role in preparing MKUH for this significant transformation and supporting its successful implementation across the Trust.
If you are a values-driven HR services leader with a passion for people, improvement and transformation, we would love to hear from you.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
