Head of HRRC & Waste Contracts
Location: Abbey Road Reuse and Recycling Centre, West London
Salary: £79,850 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting Allowance)
Hours: Full-time, 36 hours per week (3-4 days per week site based), with flexibility to cover occasional weekend working as we are a 7-day operation.
About the Role
Are you an experienced waste management professional ready to take the next step in your career and make a real environmental impact? We are looking for a motivated Head of HRRC and Waste Contracts to lead the strategic and day-to-day operation of our Household Reuse and Recycling Centre (HRRC) and Waste Transfer Station (WTS).
In this key leadership role, you will ensure both facilities operate safely, efficiently and in line with environmental regulations, while improving reuse and recycling performance and delivering an excellent service to residents and trade customers.
What You’ll Do
- Lead the day-to-day operation of the HRRC and WTS, creating a safe, efficient and welcoming environment for staff and site users.
- Manage key waste contracts, ensuring service standards, performance targets and budgets are met.
- Maintain high health, safety, environmental and quality standards, ensuring compliance with waste permits, legislation and site procedures.
- Drive continuous improvement to increase reuse and recycling performance.
- Act as the main point of contact for site operations, building effective relationships with contractors, partners and stakeholders.
- Lead, support and develop site management, supervisors and operatives, promoting a culture of safety, accountability and high performance.

About You
- Proven operational management experience in waste management, recycling or environmental services, ideally within an HRRC or WTS environment.
- Relevant industry qualifications, such as WAMITAB COTC and IOSH or NEBOSH certification.
- Strong experience of managing waste contracts, budgets and contractor relationships.
- A successful track record of leading, motivating and developing operational teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to resolve complex operational issues and respond to public and trade enquiries calmly and professionally.
