BAM UK & Ireland is recruiting a Head of HS&W- Behavioural Insights & Change. This is a part-time role, working three days per week, offers a flexible hybrid working arrangement, combining time spent at one of BAM’s UK or Ireland offices, home working, and travel across the UK and Ireland as required.
Making Possible
The purpose of this position is to:
- Build behavioural insight into the organisational design of BAM’s HS&W ways of working.
- Lead behavioural research and insight to understand the behaviours, cultures and working conditions that influence health, safety and wellbeing outcomes.
- Translate behavioural insight into practical recommendations across learning and ways of working.
- Support the learning and development of HS&W to strengthen our Everyone Safe and Well Every Day culture.
- Build behavioural science capability across BAM UK & Ireland.
- Strengthen how BAM measures, interprets and learns from HS&W outcomes, including the use of leading indicators to identify emerging risks and inform preventive action.
- Support implementation and evaluation of the Mental Health Joint Code of Practice and wider wellbeing strategy.
- Work with internal and external stakeholders, including clients and supply chain partners, to support learning, collaboration and industry improvement.

What do you bring to the role?
- PhD in psychology, behavioural science or a related discipline, with a strong track record of applying behavioural science to complex organisational challenges.
- Proven experience leading behavioural research, change and improvement programmes.
- Strong experience influencing senior leaders and multidisciplinary stakeholders, translating evidence into practical strategic recommendations.
- Expertise in behaviour change, organisational culture, learning, measurement and evaluation.
- Strong qualitative and quantitative research skills, including real-world intervention design and evaluation.
- Extensive network across behavioural science, academia and industry, with experience building external partnerships.
- Excellent facilitation, communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Experience in health, safety, wellbeing, psychosocial risk or high-risk organisational contexts.
