Head of HR Services

Location: North Wales
Hybrid: 3 days office / 2 days home
Salary: Circa £70,000
Contract: Permanent

We are working with a growing organisation to recruit a Head of HR Services to lead and develop a broad HR Services function spanning Payroll, HR Operations, HR Systems, and People Data.

This is a senior leadership role with responsibility for a large, multi-site workforce and a key focus on service improvement, transformation, governance, and team development.

The Role

  • Lead and develop the HR Services function, creating a high-performing and customer-focused team.
  • Oversee end-to-end payroll delivery for a large workforce, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and strong governance.
  • Lead HR Operations and employee lifecycle processes, driving efficiency and an excellent colleague experience.
  • Provide strategic oversight of HR and Payroll systems, data quality, reporting, and automation.
  • Drive continuous improvement and transformation across HR Services.
  • Act as a senior escalation point and trusted HR Services partner to senior stakeholders.
  • Support wider business growth, change, and integration activity.

About You

  • Led complex HR Services functions within a large, multi-site organisation.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll, HR operations, pensions, compliance, and HR governance.
  • Experience leading teams through process improvement, systems optimisation, or transformation.
  • Strong data and analytical skills, with the ability to turn people data into meaningful insight.
  • A proven track record of improving service quality, efficiency, compliance, and colleague experience.
  • The confidence and credibility to influence senior stakeholders and lead change.
  • CIPD Level 7 or equivalent professional qualification would be desirable.
