Artis HR is supporting an exciting, fast-growing brand based in Bristol with the appointment of a Head of HR.
This is a really varied senior HR role, with the opportunity to take ownership of the people function and play a key part in shaping the next stage of the business as it continues to grow.
You’ll work closely with the senior management team, acting as a trusted people partner while also being a visible and approachable point of contact for employees across the business.
The role
This is a broad, hands-on role covering everything from day-to-day HR and ER through to people strategy, development and culture.
You’ll be responsible for:
- Taking ownership of the HR and people function across the business
- Partnering with the CEO, founders and senior leadership team on people strategy
- Managing complex ER matters including performance, absence, capability, disciplinaries and grievances
- Coaching managers and helping them become more confident people leaders
- Leading recruitment, onboarding and the wider employee lifecycle
- Developing learning, development and career progression opportunities
- Building effective performance management and employee engagement approaches
- Using people data and employee feedback to identify priorities and opportunities
- Supporting workforce planning, organisational design and change
- Ensuring HR policies, processes and practices remain compliant and fit for purpose
- Bringing the right level of structure and governance as the business grows, without creating unnecessary bureaucracy

About you
We’re looking for an experienced senior HR professional who has ideally worked within a growing, founder-led or entrepreneurial business and is comfortable operating in a fast-moving environment.
You’ll ideally have:
- Experience at Head of HR, Head of People, Senior HR Manager, People Lead or senior HRBP level
- Strong generalist HR experience across ER, recruitment, performance, engagement and development
- Strong knowledge of UK employment law
- Experience independently managing complex ER cases
- A genuine track record of developing learning, progression and performance approaches
- Confidence working directly with founders, CEOs and senior leaders
- A practical, hands-on approach and the ability to operate both strategically and operationally
- Strong commercial awareness alongside a genuine people-first mindset
- The confidence to bring structure and consistency while retaining the flexibility of a growing business
