Head of Identity & Access Management (IAM) Consultant

Robert Half are supporting a leading Global Risk Firm on a strategic engagement with a major UK Energy & Utilities organisation seeking a senior Head of Identity & Access Management (IAM) professional to assess, shape and transform their identity capability. This is an opportunity for an experienced IAM leader to conduct a strategic assessment of the client's current environment, identify gaps and define the roadmap across people, process, governance and technology. The engagement is expected to run initially for 6-8 weeks, with the potential to transition into a permanent Head of Identity role with the end client.

Assignment Contract Details:

  • 📍 UK Based
  • Initial 6-8 Week Engagement with Potential Permanent Opportunity
  • 💰 £TBC per day via FCSA Umbrella Company
  • 🏢 Global Risk Firm | Energy & Utilities End Client

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead an assessment of the existing IAM capability and operating model
  • Review current IGA, PAM and access management controls
  • Identify gaps, risks and remediation priorities
  • Develop IAM strategy, target operating model and transformation roadmap
  • Provide thought leadership on emerging IAM trends and best practice
  • Support stakeholders across security, technology and business functions
  • Deliver recommendations covering governance, policy, process and organisational design

Essential Experience

  • Previous experience as a Head of IAM, Head of Identity, IAM Director or equivalent leadership role
  • Strong background delivering IAM transformation programmes
  • Experience across IGA, Access Management and PAM environments
  • Ability to assess, remediate and mature IAM functions within complex organisations
  • Experience developing IAM strategy, operating models and governance frameworks
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and executive-level communication skills

Highly Desirable Experience

  • Previous Head of IAM / Identity leadership experience within the Energy or Utilities sector
  • Experience leading IAM remediation or transformation programmes in Critical National Infrastructure (CNI) environments
  • Experience with Omada Identity (particularly Omada IGA environments)
  • Microsoft Entra ID
  • Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
  • PAM technologies
  • IGA platforms such as SailPoint, Saviynt or similar
  • Experience aligning IAM capabilities to modern cloud-first environments
  • Experience assessing underperforming IAM functions and defining strategic remediation roadmaps
  • Experience operating within highly regulated environments
  • Strong understanding of current IAM market trends, governance and identity-first security approaches
