IT Manager / Head of IT
Location: Dudley or London
Working pattern: Hybrid, 3–4 days onsite
Salary: £70,000–£80,000
A long-established real estate business is hiring an IT Manager / Head of IT to lead infrastructure, security, and IT operations across a multi-site European business.
This is a replacement hire for a role that now needs stronger leadership, clearer strategy, and a more consistent approach to IT across the group.
The role
You’ll take ownership of IT strategy and operations across the UK business, while helping coordinate standards and direction across European offices.
This is a leadership-first role with some hands-on involvement where needed - roughly 80% strategic/managerial and 20% hands-on.
What you’ll be doing
- Lead and manage a UK-based IT team of 4
- Set IT direction, standards, and best practice across multiple UK and European locations
- Improve infrastructure performance across the group, including office Wi-Fi, device setup, and overall operational reliability
- Oversee core Microsoft and cloud infrastructure, including Entra ID / Azure AD and Azure environments
- Work across a mixed estate that includes AWS-hosted services, SAP, on-prem servers, and smaller regional data centre setups
- Build a more joined-up IT and security strategy across regions
- Help move the business toward stronger security standards, including Cyber Essentials Plus readiness
- Support senior stakeholders and be comfortable dealing with urgent operational issues when they arise

What they’re looking for
- Experience leading IT in a multi-site environment
- Strong infrastructure background with the credibility to lead both strategy and delivery
- Good knowledge of Microsoft environments, including Entra ID / Azure AD and Azure
- Exposure to mixed environments spanning cloud, on-prem, networking, and end-user support
- Prior experience working with Cyber Essentials frameworks is essential
- Strong stakeholder management and team leadership skills
- A pragmatic, approachable style and strong culture fit

Location and working pattern
The business is open on location, but the ideal candidate will be based near the West Midlands / Dudley area. Strong London-based candidates will also be considered.
The role is hybrid, with 3–4 days onsite. Travel between Birmingham-area offices and London will be part of the role.
