Head of Technology - Contract
Oliver Bernard are currently working with a client of ours who are looking for a seasoned Head of Technology to join their team as part of broad expansion plans across the business.
The incoming contractor will join the business during a phase of transformation, and will be responsible for driving their technology strategy, developing existing roadmaps, and modernising their tech estate.
You will need to be comfortable striking a good balance between hands-on and hands-off engineering: creating a culture of innovation, whilst driving performance across verticals in all their tech business units. Whilst, from a hands-on perspective, prior experience working across Architecture, DevOps, Security and Data platforms is also a requirement for this opportunity.

Seniority / Leadership:
- Must have a strong pro-active 'builder' attitude
- Be capable breaking down business problems into technical roadmaps and driving change across tech businesses
- History of leading large scale transformation programmes
- Comfortable 'creating change' and driving best practices within tech driven businesses
- Have prior experience working with squads of engineers, vendors, and internal stakeholders, and be able to communicate with each of these groups accordingly
Hands-On Expertise:
- Prior experience in DevOps driven environments (specifically across Azure, Kubernetes, and Terraform tech stacks)
- Have a strong Architectural background, capable of not only implementing processes, but designing them too
- Strong understanding of Security and Security tooling, and how these are utilised to ensure complaint practices are adhered to day-to-day
- Previous work on Data Platforms, with an understanding of the importance of Data first processes, and how this impacts other teams

Must-Haves:
- Must have operated in a Head of Technology (or similar) capacity
- Be a seasoned contractor, capable having high impact in a short space of time
- Prior experience in businesses going through change, and helping guide them through 'transformational' journeys
- History of working in financial and regulated industries
This is a hybrid position, based in London, and requires an office presence 3 days p/week. The contract will run for 5 months, outside IR35, and can offer £800-900 p/day.
