Head of Technology

Location: East of England (Remote/Hybrid with some travel)
Reports to: Operations Director
Contract: Permanent
Salary: £52,000 FTE (£31,200 for 0.6FTE)

Our Commitment to Equality of Opportunity

Noise Solution is an organisation which genuinely and authentically embraces diversity, equality, and inclusion through every aspect of its governance, staffing, and delivery. We are committed to actively encouraging and promoting the employment of women, disabled, and black and minority ethnic employees as these populations are underrepresented in our industry and beyond.

About Noise Solution

Noise Solution is an award-winning organisation that uses music and digital storytelling to drive meaningful change for young people facing challenges such as school exclusion, mental health difficulties, and social isolation. Our work is underpinned by Self-Determination Theory (SDT), which highlights the importance of autonomy, competence, and relatedness in fostering motivation and well-being.

We are looking for a Head of Technology to own and evolve the technology that runs Noise Solution day-to-day and the platforms that support our participants, musicians, and partner organisations. This role is predominantly a hands-on Salesforce administration role, as our Salesforce org is the operational backbone of the organisation. We are also hoping to find someone who, over time, can support us across our wider systems, including Google Workspace and a standalone participant-facing platform built and hosted independently of (but connected to) Salesforce.

This role provides a crucial function for the successful running of our organisation; our technology is the central system which runs the entire organisation, and allows us to do so efficiently and effectively. As an organisation, we are technically curious and keen to continue to push the boundaries of our technological uses.

Main Responsibilities

This role is approximately 70–80% hands-on Salesforce administration, with the remainder covering support for Google Workspace and our participant platform, as capacity and aptitude allow. It sits at the intersection of day-to-day systems administration and wider technical strategy, ensuring that Noise Solution's technology is secure, reliable, and able to scale with the organisation's growth.

Salesforce Administration & Development

  • Acting as our lead Salesforce Administrator: managing users, profiles, permission sets, roles, and licenses.
  • Building and maintaining Flows, validation rules, page layouts, record types, and reports/dashboards to support programme, fundraising, and operations teams.
  • Maintaining data integrity across the org, including deduplication, bulk data operations, and import/export processes.
  • Configuring and supporting Salesforce-native and AppExchange tools already in use across the organisation, or proposed by you to increase efficiency or accuracy.
  • Diagnosing and resolving Flow, Apex, and integration errors, escalating to specialist support where necessary.
  • Managing Salesforce releases and sandbox testing to ensure changes are rolled out safely.
  • Owning Salesforce licence and cost management, ensuring the organisation is neither over- nor under-licensed.
  • Developing and maintaining a clear, documented picture of the org's configuration so that Salesforce knowledge does not sit with one person alone.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Wider Systems & IT Management

  • Supporting Google Workspace administration (user accounts, groups, shared drives, security settings) alongside your Salesforce work, as time and aptitude allow.
  • Acting as first point of contact for day-to-day IT queries from staff, and helping maintain a lightweight IT support process appropriate to a small organisation.
  • Supporting device and account security across the organisation, including access reviews and on/off-boarding.

Participant Platform Liaison

  • Acting as the Salesforce-side point of contact for the external developers who build and maintain our standalone participant platform (Next.js/Supabase), flagging any implications for Salesforce data or integration.
  • Helping ensure data passed between the platform and Salesforce stays accurate and secure, escalating technical issues to the platform's developers as needed.
  • Keeping the Senior Leadership Team informed of platform-related risks or opportunities that touch our Salesforce data.

Data Security, Privacy & Compliance

  • Ensuring Salesforce and the other systems you administer are configured in line with GDPR and safeguarding requirements, including row-level and field-level access controls for sensitive data.
  • Maintaining backup and restore processes for Salesforce and other systems you manage, and supporting audits, DPIAs, and other compliance activity as required.
  • Keeping access permissions current, particularly for safeguarding-sensitive records and participant data.

Technical Strategy & Continuous Improvement

  • Owning the roadmap and priorities for our Salesforce org, and recommending priorities, tooling, and vendor choices to the Operations Director for sign-off.
  • Advising the Senior Leadership Team on technology decisions, priorities, and trade-offs in plain, non-technical language where needed.
  • Identifying opportunities to automate manual processes and reduce administrative burden on frontline and operations staff.
  • Training staff on Salesforce and other core systems, building internal confidence and reducing dependency on the Head of Technology for routine tasks.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of the Salesforce roadmap, releases, and best practice relevant to the non-profit sector.
  • Contributing to internal strategy discussions on technology, data, and digital delivery.
  • Representing Noise Solution in technical conversations with partners, funders, and suppliers where relevant.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Significant hands-on experience as a Salesforce Administrator (Salesforce Administrator certification, or equivalent demonstrable experience), including Flow Builder, permissions/security model, and reporting.
  • Confidence troubleshooting and resolving day-to-day Salesforce issues independently, and knowing when to escalate.
  • A genuine aptitude and willingness to pick up adjacent systems (such as Google Workspace and our participant platform) even without prior hands-on experience in them.
  • Comfortable working across multiple systems and translating between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • A methodical, documentation-minded approach to system administration, given this is likely to be a small or sole technical team.
  • Sound understanding of data protection and safeguarding considerations when handling sensitive personal data.
  • Self-directed and comfortable prioritising across competing demands in a small, growing organisation.

Desirable

  • Experience managing Google Workspace or a comparable business productivity/IT environment (user management, security, shared drives).
  • Experience with Salesforce Flow automation beyond the basics, and/or light Apex familiarity.
  • Exposure to modern web application stacks (e.g. Next.js, Postgres/Supabase, REST or GraphQL APIs) sufficient to work productively with developers building integrated systems.
  • Experience working with or overseeing external developers or technical contractors.
  • Understanding of GDPR in a UK third-sector context, including DPIAs and data retention.
  • Interest in or experience with music, youth work, mental health, or social impact measurement.
  • Experience with AppExchange tools such as Agentforce or Einstein features.

How to Apply

We need three things for your application:

  • Your CV, showing your work experience and any relevant certifications.
  • A cover letter, telling us why you would like to come and work with us.
  • A short video, showing us something you have built - we want to know what you have built, how you built it, why you built it that way, and why you are proud of it!

Send your application to: damien@noisesolution.org. Please host your video online somewhere (Vimeo, YouTube or similar) and make sure we have access to it.

The final day to send your application in is Sunday 4th October 2026.
