Role: Interim Head of IT
Salary: £90,000 Duration: 8-Month Fixed-Term Contract (Starting September) Location: Surrey / Agile (Hybrid) Hours: Full-time (37 hours/week)
Are you an experienced IT leader looking for a high-impact interim contract? We are recruiting an Interim Head of IT to provide senior operational leadership and steer day-to-day IT service delivery during a major period of regional organizational transition.
The Opportunity
Backfilling the current Head of Service—who is dedicated to a strategic transformation programme—you will take full ownership of the IT infrastructure, digital solutions, and service delivery. You will oversee priority BAU projects, manage supplier relationships, and ensure robust IT operations while supporting wider transition activities.

Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership: Lead and motivate a team of technical IT specialists, driving service delivery, system resilience, and high performance.
- Service & Project Delivery: Manage priority projects, corporate IT contracts, capital budgets, and third-party supplier relationships.
- Governance & Risk: Ensure full compliance with technical, security, data protection, and business continuity standards.
- Stakeholder Management: Work collaboratively across matrix environments, building strong relationships with senior leaders and external partners.

Key Experience for the Role:
- Proven track record as a senior manager with full accountability for an IT service.
- Strong expertise in managing IT/digital infrastructure, SaaS environments, and on-premises architecture.
- Demonstrated experience in project management, IT budget control, and contract procurement.
- Outstanding leadership, strategic thinking, and stakeholder management skills—experience within public sector or complex governance environments is highly advantageous.
- ITIL certification or project management qualifications are desirable.
