About the role
As Head of Infrastructure & Platforms, you will lead the transformation of Wiltshire Police's technology foundations, ensuring our infrastructure and platforms are secure, resilient, scalable and ready to support the future of digital policing. Working as a key member of the DDaT leadership team, you will drive cloud modernisation, platform innovation and engineering excellence across a complex technology landscape. This is a unique opportunity to shape the cloud, platform and infrastructure capabilities that will underpin the future of digital policing. You will drive innovation across digital, data and AI-enabled services, build high-performing teams, and establish the secure, resilient and scalable foundations that enable Wiltshire Police to be a leader in modern, technology-enabled policing.

What you will be doing
- Lead the strategy, roadmap and transformation of infrastructure and platforms across on-premises, private cloud and public cloud environments.
- Drive cloud-smart modernisation and platform engineering practices that enable secure, scalable and sustainable digital services.
- Lead infrastructure and platform engineering teams across networks, compute, storage, databases and communications technologies.
- Ensure platforms are engineered for availability, resilience, security, recoverability and operational performance.
- Establish and enforce technical standards, patterns and guardrails aligned to national policing policy, government standards and industry best practice.
- Champion automation, cloud technologies and modern platform capabilities that improve service outcomes and reduce complexity.
- Enable innovation, AI adoption and new digital services through flexible, secure and scalable platform foundations.
- Provide senior leadership on platform risk, technology investment and future capability, working with internal and external partners to deliver strategic outcomes.
About you and your experience

- Significant experience leading infrastructure, platform or cloud services within a complex technology environment.
- Proven ability to lead large-scale infrastructure, cloud or platform transformation initiatives.
- Strong understanding of platform resilience, availability, security, recoverability and operational risk management.
- Passionate about modern platform engineering, automation, innovation and enabling excellent user outcomes through technology.
- ITIL 4 Foundation certified.
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305), or equivalent cloud architecture certification.
- ITIL 4 Managing Professional certified.
- Relevant degree in IT, Engineering, or equivalent senior professional experience.
